Fulton Hogan Australia (FHA) is recruiting for our Executive General Manager – Health & Safety, Environment and Sustainability (EGM HSES), with the role able to be based out of Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane. Reporting directly to CEO Australia, this senior executive position offers the opportunity to take a key leadership role in a true market leader in the civil infrastructure industry. You will be responsible for partnering with the FHA Executive, including operational stream leaders of our Construction, Utilities and Infrastructure Services divisions, to lead the strategic direction and effective coordination of effort, resourcing and HSES performance across Australia.

You will implement and further the development of national strategies, initiatives, and resourcing, ensuring ongoing alignment with Fulton Hogan's overall group priorities. This role is pivotal in shaping a culture of responsible decision-making, risk management, and operational excellence aligned with FH REAL values.

As a senior leader and member of the FHA Executive, you will maintain effective links to Fulton Hogan's Group Executive and wider resources across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, whilst representing the interest and needs of the Australian business, context and operating environment.

Some of your key accountabilities will be:

  • Lead the implementation and ongoing development of the Living Safely 2.0 strategy in collaboration with executive and operational teams.
  • Champion proactive health and safety initiatives, ensuring alignment with company standards, H&S legislation, and Group strategy.
  • Provide guidance, resources, and governance to support effective H&S risk management across all operational streams.
  • Monitor, review and report on H&S performance, supporting operational delivery and recommending solutions to drive continual improvement.
  • Lead and develop national environmental strategies, working with executive and operational teams to ensure alignment with Group and FHA objectives.
  • Oversee the effective delivery of environmental initiatives, reporting and governance, supporting continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance on environmental and sustainability legislation, standards and risk management, driving best practice.
  • Implement the existing national Sustainability strategy and continue its further development in collaboration with FHA Executive and operational stream leads.
  • Align individual stream sustainability strategies with the overall FHA and Group objectives, supporting operational delivery and ensuring timely reporting requirements are met.

How you'll connect to the role?

To be successful in this role, you will have a great blend of technical, analytical, leadership, and business skills as a senior-level leader in Operations and/or HSES functions. You will hold a relevant tertiary qualification and have significant national industry experience in Health & Safety, Environmental and Sustainability disciplines. You'll be a strategic thinker who understands commercial realities, is able to manage large-scale business complexity across diverse geographic and jurisdictional areas.  Your effective communication and negotiation abilities with senior management and diverse teams, exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills will set you up for success.

A proven track record in motivating and leading high-performing teams will be complemented by your technical capability and collaborative approach.
