Position Summary:

This role involves supporting field operations through hands-on labor, equipment operation, and assisting skilled trades in the installation, repair, and maintenance of infrastructure. Ideal candidates are safety-focused, reliable, and willing to work outdoors in varying conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of underground and aerial utility systems (fiber, coax, conduit, etc.).
  • Operate and maintain basic construction tools and equipment (hand tools, power tools, trenchers, compressors, etc.).
  • Perform digging, trenching, backfilling, and site restoration (landscaping, sprinkler repair, concrete, asphalt, sod, etc.).
  • Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites.
  • Support crews in setting up and tearing down work zones, including traffic control if required.
  • Follow instructions from foremen, supervisors, and skilled trades to complete tasks on schedule.
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas, adhering to company policies and OSHA safety standards.
  • Assist in locating, identifying, and protecting existing utilities during excavation.
  • Document daily work activities as directed by supervisors.
  • Provide general labor support for a wide variety of field construction tasks.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous construction or utility experience a plus (willing to train motivated candidates).
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
  • Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, work outdoors, and perform physically demanding labor.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions and environments (heat, cold, dirt, mud, confined spaces, etc.).
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (CDL is a plus).
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to follow directions.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with underground utility or telecom construction.
  • Familiarity with utility locating and safe digging practices.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a crew.

Work Environment:

  • Field-based position with daily outdoor work.
  • May require extended hours, weekends, or overtime depending on workload.
  • Travel to multiple job sites within the service area.
