Overview
The Kitchen Coordinator supports daily meal service by preparing and serving safe, nutritious food that meets the dietary needs of all children. This role assists with maintaining health and safety compliance, kitchen cleanliness, inventory support, and efficient operations.

HOURLY WAGE: $20.00-$22.00, depending on experience and education
WORK HOURS: 25-30 hours per week, days and schedules may vary
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations
REVISION DATE: 12/2025
Scope of Position
The Kitchen Coordinator supports daily food service operations by preparing and serving meals that meet the nutritional and dietary needs of all enrolled children, including those with allergies. With support from the Kitchen Manager, this role helps ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintains a clean and organized kitchen, assists with inventory and cost control, and collaborates with all kitchen staff to ensure efficient service and a safe, clean and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepares foods using the menus planned by the Kitchen Manager to meet the developmental, medical, and feeding needs of all children with disabilities, including attention to food allergies, and ensures the safety of children by carefully checking Food Cards and labeling all food and drink accordingly.
- Meal preparations for evenings.
- Maintains established standards of sanitation, safety, food preparation and storage as set by the local and state Health Departments; maintains an orderly, sanitary, and safe kitchen, dining room, and pantry.
- Shares duties with the Kitchen Manager and Kitchen Assistant for efficient functioning of the food service program.
- Maintains inventory and tracking systems.
- Assures the proper care and maintenance of all food service equipment; identifies equipment needs for food preparation and service and assists in purchasing as needed.
- Supports the with the general upkeep of the kitchen with duties such as sweeping, moping and other daily/monthly cleaning tasks as assigned, in adherence to Health Department and Licensing standards.

Qualifications and Conditions of Employment
- Belief in Respite Care's Mission and Philosophy
- Valid ServSafe Certificate, Food Handlers Card and/or equivalent
- Knowledge of nutrition, special dietary needs, and safe food handling practices
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Working Conditions
- Ability to communicate professionally via email, phone, and in person
- Ability to stoop, kneel, reach, bend at the waist, and lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours per day
- Must possess a valid, current driver's license and means of transportation
Hours and Time Off
- Must be available 12p-5p Tu, Th and 10a-6p Sat, Sun
- Time off must be approved in advance by Director of Operations
