Job Summary

Overall Responsibility: The Navigator establishes a trusting relationship with all clients and builds collaborative relationships with partner agencies. This position serves as the portal of entry and contact for clients seeking services at Women & Children First (WCF) and the Family Peace Center (FPC). The Navigator ensures that every client is welcomed with compassion, respect, and excellent customer service, creating a safe and supportive environment from the first point of contact. This position requires explaining agency policies, programs, and procedures to clients, determining eligibility, and certifying clients for services. The Navigator coordinates and provides direct client services on-site at WCF and the FPC and works closely with partner agencies to help victims of child abuse, domestic and sexual violence, elder abuse, and human trafficking access the full range of services available. The Navigator reports directly to the WCF Program Coordinator.

Responsibilities

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Interview clients to determine appropriate services.
  • Assist clients in navigating the various programs and services offered.
  • Provide follow-up case management and support to help clients utilize the full range of services available.
  • Conduct navigation with clients, including lethality and risk assessments, safety planning, and comprehensive needs assessments.
  • Develop individualized navigation plans and provide appropriate referrals to community partners.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Maintain confidential client records.
  • Provide outreach, education, and presentations to the community, when requested.
  • Assist in training and oversight of volunteers and interns.
  • Participate in evaluating program effectiveness.
  • Adhere to WCF and FPC policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required and two years previous domestic violence service experience or knowledge preferred.
  • Has the ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and best practices related to family violence, including safety, confidentiality, and supportive service delivery.
  • Skill in providing respectful, compassionate, and professional customer service to individuals and families impacted by trauma.
  • Skill in active listening, conflict resolution, problem solving, and collaborative decision making.
  • Ability to establish trust and maintain effective working relationships with clients, colleagues, and partner agencies while demonstrating empathy, patience, and cultural humility.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Ability to remain organized, detail-oriented, and efficient in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
  • Ability to manage stressful or crisis situations with professionalism, calmness, and a supportive presence.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, building cooperative partnerships with law enforcement, social services, healthcare providers, and community organizations.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use agency case management software and maintain accurate records.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Women & Children First and the Family Peace Center.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.25 per hour

Expected hours: 32 per week
