Position Summary
The Kitchen Lead is a full-time working cook responsible for consistent food quality, daily BOH operations, and leading the kitchen team during service. This role works all stations, maintains recipe and presentation standards, assists with costing and ordering, and supports training and supervision above the level of a standard kitchen supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, portion, cook, and present all menu items consistently for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and catered events.
- Follow recipes and maintain high standards of flavor, presentation, and food consistency.
- Work all stations including grill, sauté, fry, pantry, prep, and expo.
- Support daily BOH operations and help lead the team during service.
- Complete opening and closing duties and maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen.
- Assist with food cost control through accurate prep, portioning, waste tracking, and forecasting.
- Participate in ordering, receiving, inventory, and maintaining proper par levels.
- Train and coach staff to uphold kitchen standards, safety practices, and responsible work habits.
- Communicate with FOH to ensure smooth service and resolve issues quickly.
- Maintain reliable attendance and take responsibility for assigned tasks.
- Perform additional duties as needed based on business needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Culinary education or equivalent kitchen experience.
- Valid Food Safety Certification.
- Minimum 3 years line cooking experience; leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong focus on food consistency, quality, and timing.
- Responsible, dependable, and able to lead by example.
- Experience with basic food costing, inventory, and ordering.
- Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Open availability including weekends, holidays, and early breakfast shifts.
- Must pass a background check.
