Duties

  • Demonstrated knowledge of concepts related to computer based medical systems, networking protocols, and information security as it applies to medical technology within VHA.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and maintain a medical equipment management program in full compliance with healthcare standards and regulatory agencies (e.g., TJC, NFPA-99, FDA).
  • Skilled in developing and delivering continuing education curricula focused on the safe and effective use of medical technology across clinical teams
  • Proven experience managing recall and safety alert programs, including hazard investigations aligned with SMDA and patient safety goals.
  • Expertise in capital asset and infrastructure planning for medical equipment, from concept and acquisition through installation and lifecycle implementation.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in biomedical engineering, supporting specialized clinical technologies through service, system administration, training, and quality assurance.
  • Advises clinical and administrative staff on existing and emerging medical technologies, evaluating long-term viability, safety, and compatibility.
  • Applies project management principles to the deployment of medical equipment and health information technologies, ensuring timely and cost-effective implementation.
  • Demonstrated skill in communicating and working collaboratively with key stakeholders, including technical and professional staff at various levels of the organization.
  • Understanding of regulatory agencies' requirements, industry regulatory requirements and International Standard Organization standards.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or Certification as a Clinical Engineer (CCE).
  • A minimum of three years of hospital or healthcare experience maintaining medical equipment or managing a hospital medical equipment program.
  • Prior experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is a plus.

Must be able to obtain a US Government clearance.

Work Locations

  • Onsite Veterans Affairs Medical Center Dublin, GA with travel to local Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs)
