TITLE:Systems Administrator
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Systems Administrator provides hardware, software, and cloud systems configuration, management, monitoring, and maintenance for the agency's IT infrastructure, ensuring reliable and secure access for hybrid staff and end-user support. This position works closely with other internal and external IT positions to ensure smooth delivery of technology services and efficient issue resolution.
The Systems Administrator must be highly organized and enjoy working within a fast-paced and mission-driven organization. The ideal individual will possess strong foundational knowledge, have the willingness to learn new technologies and skills, and will exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written, verbal communication and administrative skills.
Associate's degree in related fields with 3+ years of experience in systems administration strongly preferred; industry certifications preferred but not required. Relevant training, professional work and life experience considered in lieu of education and/or certification.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Computer & Technical Proficiency: Expertise in cloud systems management. Experience in network monitoring, patch management, and disaster recovery. Advanced skills working with firewalls. Knowledge of Zero Trust networking principles and VPN administration. Experience with network switches and an understanding of network topology. Knowledge of a variety of hardware, software, programming languages and cloud platforms. Experience developing non-native API integrations a plus.
- Organizational Skills: Precise environment management, data entry and record-keeping, adherence to existing quality assurance and documentation standards, with a great attention to detail.
- Critical Thinking: Highly adept in determining data and other information relevant to make improvements, sound decisions and problem solve in a multifaceted network environment. Ability to assess and analyze risks and develop mitigation strategies. Displays original thinking and creativity; meets challenges with resourcefulness. Generates suggestions for improving work efficiency and effectiveness. Exercises judgment and advanced technical skills in selecting and applying procedures correctly, and determines when to involve other team members in network concerns.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills working with technical and nontechnical personnel at various levels in the organization. Professional and clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Time Management & Flexibility: Ability to meet assigned deadlines. Demonstrate flexibility to multi-task and adjust to changing priorities in a timely manner. Changes approach or method to best fit the situation. Able to prioritize tasks and adjust for delays or unexpected events.
This is a 35 hour per week, full-time, on-site position requiring availability for scheduled shifts between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m in our Greenfield office. Hybrid flexibility available dependent on currently assigned tasks. Must have the ability to work in the event of an off hours emergency.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage Meraki firewalls, including configuration, policy management, and threat prevention.
- Perform network security and access control for network devices, including firewall rule audits and compliance enforcement.
- Configure and administer security systems. Install timely security-related upgrades. Monitor and analyze network logs and scan computer systems to detect incorrectly configured systems or network attacks.
- Maintain network infrastructure, including firmware patching, lifecycle and license management, and network device configuration.
- Receive internal help desk tickets and resolve questions and issues via telephone, remote support, email and/or in-person for staff end-users.
- Update and design reports using Microsoft Report Builder and SRSS.
- Document network architecture, changes, and policies.
- Evaluate and recommend network technologies for future upgrades.
- Participate in planning, installation, and expansion of network systems, equipment and services.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair network infrastructure issues.
- Coordinate with external IT for equipment installation and maintenance as needed.
- Cross-train with internal IT colleagues to provide more flexibility and increased efficiencies.
- Participate in ongoing professional development training to upgrade skills and acquire knowledge of new technologies and security issues.
- Assist in resolving after-hours issues, as needed.

The Systems Administrator reports to the Associate Director of IT & Operations

Occasional reaching and grabbing objects with both hands, twisting of hand and wrist, and pushing and pulling of objects.
Occasional bending, squatting, and twisting to perform work functions.
Occasional capacity to lift up to 25 pounds.

Ability to understand and/or interpret complicated program instructions and laws.
Capacity to learn complicated computer software.
Capacity to deal rationally and calmly with varying personalities.
Capacity to work well in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
Environmental Conditions:
Work is primarily indoor office work and with occasional traveling outdoors to other LifePath locations, as well as to attend meetings and trainings.
Must be able to tolerate by-products of office machine operation.
Must be able to tolerate heat and cold of seasonal changes and indoor temperatures.
