We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech Language Pathologist - Assistant (SLPA) - Houston to join our dynamic healthcare and educational teams. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing functions using standardized assessments and clinical observations.
- Develop personalized treatment plans aligned with client goals, medical diagnoses, and educational requirements such as Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Deliver engaging therapy sessions utilizing a variety of techniques and tools to improve communication skills in children and adults.
- Collaborate closely with families, educators, healthcare providers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive care strategies.
- Monitor progress regularly and adjust therapy approaches to maximize outcomes.
- Educate clients and their families about communication disorders, treatment options, and strategies for ongoing support at home or in school environments.
- Maintain detailed documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and compliance records in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities to stay current with best practices in speech-language pathology.
Skills
- Proven experience working with children across various settings such as schools or early intervention programs.
- Strong knowledge of pediatric physiology, anatomy related to speech and swallowing functions, and medical terminology relevant to communication disorders.
- Familiarity with acute care environments where urgent or complex cases may be encountered.
- Experience working with students in educational settings to support speech-language goals within IEP frameworks.
- Deep understanding of early intervention strategies for infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities.
- Ability to assess and treat a broad spectrum of speech therapy needs including articulation, language development, fluency issues, voice disorders, and swallowing difficulties.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, teachers, therapists, and families.
- Knowledge of medical documentation standards along with proficiency in using assessment tools and treatment software. Education & Qualifications
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited higher education speech language therapy program.
- Current licensure and in good standing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a pediatric setting.
