Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and non-routine maintenance on electrical systems and instrumentation as directed to ensure equipment is kept in full working order. Examples include control panels, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, and process instrumentation (temperature, pressure, level, flow devices).
  • Calibrate and configure sensors, controllers, and automated process equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and instrumentation issues, utilizing engineering drawings, manuals, and diagnostics.
  • Use electrical and instrumentation diagnostic equipment as well as handheld tools as related to electrical and instrumentation work.
  • Run or operate devices to test their performance.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Engineering teams to optimize process safety, control, and efficiency.
  • Procure parts and supplies. Develop a spare parts list and help maintain spare parts inventory for electrical equipment and instrumentation.
  • Track and complete work using plant CMMS software.
  • Maintain good housekeeping of maintenance shop and plant.
  • Perform work according to safe work practices; follow permit to work process, lock out and tag out procedures, Arc Flash protocol, etc.
  • Coordinate outside vendors or resources as required for specialized service, repairs, or installations.
  • Other job duties as assigned by management.

Educational Requirements:

  • 4 years minimum experience
  • Position requires a HS diploma or GED. Associates degree or trade certification in a related field is preferred but not required.
  • NFPA 70E certification a plus
  • Have some knowledge of building, electrical codes and OSHA regulations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Majority of work will take place in the manufacturing plant. Must wear designated safety gear when appropriate.
  • Walking between departments, using stairs and climbing ladders.
  • Bending, crouching, kneeling and the ability to lift 50 lbs. manually and unassisted.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds; squatting and kneeling.

The Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Technician will report to the Maintenance Supervisor, or any one of like status. The E&I Tech is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing plant electrical and instrumentation systems that support operation of a chemical manufacturing facility. These tasks will be completed with priority placed on safety, productivity, and business needs.
