Washington, Washington, D.C., United States Peraton Full time $104,000 - $166,000 per year

Responsibilities

Join Peraton in advancing the safety, efficiency, and modernization of the National Airspace System (NAS) through the FAA's Brand New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) contract. As a trusted partner to the Federal Aviation Administration, Peraton helps deliver the systems and services that keep our nation's skies safe and connected.

We're looking for innovative professionals who thrive in mission-critical environments and are passionate about shaping the future of air traffic management. This is your chance to make an impact on one of the world's most vital transportation infrastructures, working alongside leaders in aviation, engineering, data science, and systems integration.

At Peraton, you won't just support the mission — you'll define it.

Help shape the future of U.S. airspace safety and efficiency. We are seeking a Test Automation Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise to ensure FAA systems undergo rigorous, automated validation across development and modernization lifecycles. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain in-depth experience in federal contracting while supporting high-visibility aviation programs.

In this position, you will:

  • Design, optimize, and scale automation frameworks that integrate into DevSecOps pipelines, enabling the FAA to deliver systems with speed, accuracy, and confidence.
  • Ability to design and maintain reusable automation libraries and frameworks.
  • Proven ability to manage defect tracking, root cause analysis, and automation-driven remediation.
  • Experience ensuring automation aligns with safety-critical and compliance-driven testing needs.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on test automation strategies, best practices, and tools.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines to support continuous testing.
  • Develop advanced automated test scripts for functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and product owners to ensure testability of system designs.
  • Evaluate and recommend test automation tools and platforms aligned with FAA needs.
  • Mentor test engineers and analysts on automation methodologies and coding practices.
  • Conduct code reviews and framework audits to ensure automation quality and reusability.
  • Generate and present automation coverage metrics, dashboards, and executive-level reports.
  • Support FAA leadership in test readiness reviews, certification, and compliance activities.
  • Lead automation strategy, framework design, and advanced testing efforts in support of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Why This Role Matters

The FAA is the cornerstone of aviation safety and innovation. As the Test Automation Engineer you will ensure automation accelerates testing, increases coverage, and reduces risk directly supporting FAA's mission to maintain the safest and most reliable aviation system in the world.
