This role involves crafting compelling, concise speeches for a high-profile charity fundraising gala in New York City. The selected speechwriter will be responsible for developing 5-7 short speeches tailored to various speakers, each designed to engage the audience and drive support for the event's cause. The project is time-sensitive, with first drafts required by Wednesday, October 22, and a single round of light revisions anticipated. Onsite presence at the gala on October 29 is preferred to provide real-time support to speakers and ensure seamless delivery.

Deliverables

  • Write 5-7 original, impactful speeches for event speakers, each tailored to their unique voice and the event's objectives
  • Submit first drafts by the specified deadline
  • Incorporate feedback and complete one round of revisions as needed
  • Attend the event onsite in New York City on October 29 to assist speakers and make last-minute adjustments

Requirements

  • Proven experience in scriptwriting or speechwriting for live events, especially in nonprofit or fundraising contexts
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt tone and style for different speakers
  • Strong understanding of persuasive communication and audience engagement
  • Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines and manage multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Availability to be onsite in New York City on October 29
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism when working with event organizers and speakers
  • Familiarity with charity or nonprofit sector is a plus
