The Law Enforcement Records Bureau gathers, analyzes, and disseminates criminal justice data used by New Mexico law enforcement, criminal justice, corrections, courts, and civil agencies to ensure public safety. The bureau maintains complete and accurate records and responds to the needs of the public, law enforcement and criminal justice agencies providing support and customer engagement through our many applications, programs, and services to achieve the mission objectives.

Why does the job exist?
The NCIC coordinator is responsible for ensuring New Mexico's NCIC program operates efficiently and in compliance with federal standards. The coordinator conducts FBI ORI and NLETS validations, manages and maintains an inventory of active ORls, and oversees offline misuse investigations. A critical component of the position involves the active management of User Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), ensuring all participating agencies adhere to established protocols. Additionally, the coordinator works with vendors to test system functionality and maintain compliance with operational standards. They also provide training and orientation to agencies, offering guidance and support in preparation for triennial FBI/NCIC audits. By performing these duties, the coordinator ensures the integrity, security, and compliance of criminal justice information across New Mexico.
How does it get done?
1. Compliance Management (30%): Ensure records processing, maintenance, and dissemination comply with federal and state statutory requirements, overseeing quality control of NCIC information systems for DPS as the control terminal agency.
2. Training and Education (25%): Provide in-depth cross-training and education to law enforcement agencies, ensuring they understand NCIC protocols and maintain operational compliance.
3. Reporting and Support (20%): Generate and compile criminal history reports, provide National Crime Information Center services to statutorily required applicants and offer after-hours support for agencies when necessary.
4. Auditing and Verification (25%): Conduct audits of all participating agencies in accordance with state and federal guidelines/policies, ensuring the accuracy and currency of information by facilitating verification between inquiring and entering agencies.

Minimum Qualification
Associate Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Accounting and one (1) year of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, contract management, and/or in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and fingerprinting in accordance with all terms and conditions of Federal and State Law, rules and regulations; and is conditional pending results.
Continued employment is contingent upon remaining felony free, per Section of the Criminal Justice Information Systems Security Policy.
In addition, the selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a current Defensive Driving Certificate from the State of New Mexico; or pass and receive the Defensive Driving Certificate.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs.
