We are seeking an Engineering Technician Specialist to join our Bridgeport, TX team Come join us

The Senior Field and Laboratory Technician will perform advanced field and laboratory testing for Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA), concrete, soils, and aggregates to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards. This role requires a highly experienced professional with 15+ years in the construction industry, particularly in HMA production and testing, and the ability to work independently while supporting District and Area Offices.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Conduct material testing for HMA, concrete, soils, and aggregates in the field, laboratory, or plant.
• Review and adjust HMA Mix Designs and Job Mix Formulas (JMF) as requested by producers.
• Perform batching of blank and bulk samples for correction factors.
• Ensure compliance with TxDOT HMA specifications and support quality control and production oversight.
• Conduct aggregate property testing for HMA and Seal Coat Aggregates, including Tex-107, Tex-203, Tex-217, Tex-224, Tex-280, Tex-406, Tex-408, and Tex-460.
• Perform daily quality control and assurance sampling and testing to ensure adherence to project specifications.
• Provide technical support to roadway personnel, addressing placement testing inquiries and performing tests such as Tex-244, Tex-246, Tex-251, and Tex-500.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and ensure proper documentation of test results.
• Abide by all company health and safety policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements:

• 15+ years of experience in the construction industry, with a focus on HMA, concrete, soils, and aggregates.
• Proven ability to read and comprehend plans, specifications, and test procedures.
• Working knowledge of concrete, soils, base, and asphalt pavements.
• Experience in highway or building construction, with a history of working effectively with contractors and owners.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Current TxAPA Level 1A & Level 2 Certification is required.

Technical requirements:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other technical tools for material testing.
• Preferred certifications: TxAPA Level 1B, SB101, SB102, and ACI Field Grade 1.
• Must have or be able to quickly obtain certifications in Concrete, Hot Mix, Soils, and Base testing.

Other miscellaneous qualities:

• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
• Willingness to work day or night shifts, as well as "off hours" when needed.
• Flexibility to transition between field testing, inspection duties, and laboratory testing responsibilities as required.
• Availability to work up to 60 hours per week, as needed.
