Key Responsibilities
Multi-Plant EHS Leadership & Strategy
Provide safety leadership and technical guidance to all EAS manufacturing locations across North Carolina.
- Lead, coach, and develop Safety Managers and Safety Training Managers to ensure consistent safety performance and training quality.
Conduct regular site visits to assess compliance, hazard controls, ergonomics, and safety culture.
Ensure alignment of safety strategies, policies, and communications across facilities.Compliance & Regulatory Management
Ensure all EAS NC facilities comply with OSHA, EPA, DOT, RCRA, and state/local regulations.
- Oversee environmental permits and compliance programs (air, wastewater, stormwater, waste handling).
Support and review incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action development by plant-level safety teams.
Maintain complete and accurate safety and environmental records.Program Development & Standardization
Develop, update, and standardize EHS policies, training programs, and SOPs across all NC facilities.
- Oversee execution of core safety programs by Safety Managers and Training Managers, including:
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Machine Guarding
- Confined Space Entry
- Hazard Communication / SDS Management
- Contractor Safety
- Radiation Safety (as applicable)
Hot Work & Fire Prevention
Ensure training programs are delivered effectively and consistently.Risk Assessment & Hazard Mitigation
Direct and oversee Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), ergonomic assessments, and risk evaluations.
- Identify recurring risks across locations and lead efforts to implement systemic controls.
Collaborate with engineering and operations on equipment design reviews and process changes.
Training, Communication & Culture Development
Provide leadership and oversight to Safety Training Managers to ensure high-quality training content and delivery.
Promote safety communication, leadership engagement, and employee involvement across all NC plants.
Support and expand safety culture programs such as 5S, near-miss reporting, behavior-based safety, and recognition programs.Environmental Health Responsibilities
Oversee environmental compliance for hazardous waste, air emissions, chemical storage, stormwater, and wastewater.
Ensure consistent environmental reporting and monitoring across all locations.
Support plant teams during environmental inspections and audits.Emergency Preparedness & Response
Direct emergency response planning and training across all NC plants.
Coordinate with external agencies (fire, EMS, emergency management).
Lead after-action reviews and implement improvements following emergency events.Metrics, Reporting & Performance Tracking
Monitor and report EHS performance indicators (TRIR, LTIR, near misses, training compliance, audit results).
- Develop monthly and quarterly reports for the Vice President of Safety and Quality.
Benchmark performance among facilities and lead cross-site improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field or equivalent EHS experience.
Certifications (Preferred)
- OSHA 30 or higher
- CSP, ASP, CHST, CIH, or similar
- Environmental compliance certifications beneficial
Experience
- 7+ years of EHS leadership experience in manufacturing or industrial operations.
- Experience overseeing safety personnel, including Safety Managers or Training Managers.
- Strong background in OSHA compliance, investigations, hazard analysis, and safety training.
- Experience with environmental permitting and compliance programs.
- Demonstrated ability to improve safety culture and standardize safety systems across multiple facilities.
Experience with ergonomics, machine safety, chemical safety, and process safety elements.
