Database Administrator/Data Engineer II

Summary of Position

The Database Administrator/Data Engineer II will design, implement, and support backend database systems and critical applications. The role will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance, and support both internal users and business-critical systems.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Database Management
  • Install, configure, and maintain relational (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and/or NoSQL databases.
  • Monitor, tune, and optimize database performance; manager and automate backups.
  • Cloud-based database solutions (e.g., Azure, AWS)
  • Ensure data integrity during migrations, updates, and access control.
  • Apply patches, update, and manage user permissions.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation and standard operating procedures
  • Adhere to ITIL or related operational frameworks.
  • Partner with IT team on projects; assists in application rollouts and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Share knowledge and support junior team members.
  • Build semantic models and datasets.
  • Implement Power BI workspace governance.
  • Row-Level Security.
  • Data warehousing (ETL)
  • Real-time integration utilizing web services and integration middleware.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field—or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 4-8 years in direct database administration/data engineering.
  • Experience with SQL-based systems
  • Knowledge of virtualization, scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python), cloud platforms (e.g., AWS/Azure), or DevOps tooling is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience building Power BI solutions (models, DAX, refresh strategies) and production pipelines.
  • Experience with AI principles is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving aptitude, and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with a collaborative mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Commitment to data security and integrity in all tasks.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to frequently use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. Employee is required to have the ability to: continuously sit, stand, forward bend while standing, and kneel; frequently stand, sit, forward bend while standing or sitting, rotate while sitting or standing, walk, crouch, climb stairs, and perform repetitive squats; occasionally grip up to 30 pounds and crawl; rarely lift up to 60 pounds to waist, lift up to 40 pounds to crown, lift up to 34 pounds horizontally, front carry up to 50 pounds, push with up to 60 pounds of force, perform elevated work, climb stepladders, and swing up to 12 pound sledge hammer. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

Working Environment:
Works in office environment and rarely site environment. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
