About the Role

Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) / Controller (Hybrid role)

Location: Los Angeles / Remote or Hybrid options available

Type: Full-time

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Compensation: Competitive base salary + bonuses

Employment Style: Hands-on leadership with a strategic lens

 

What You'll Do

Lead all financial planning and analysis, including forecasting, budgeting, cash flow management, and financial modeling to drive scalable growth.Own the accounting function with hands-on involvement in month-end close, GAAP compliance, internal controls, and financial reporting.Oversee treasury, cash management, and working capital optimization for a direct-to-consumer brand with in-house manufacturing.Drive profitability analysis across product lines (four core products), pricing strategies, and cost optimization initiatives.Partner with Manufacturing, Operations, Marketing, and Sales to align financial strategy with business goals.Develop and present board-level dashboards and executive-level financial insights.Lead tax planning, compliance, audits, and risk management.Build and mentor a high-performing finance team; hire, develop, and coach finance talent.Implement scalable FP&A processes, ERP/fintech integration, and financial systems enhancements.Ensure strong internal controls and governance to support rapid growth and compliance requirements. 

What We're Looking For

Experience: 10+ years in senior financial leadership roles (CFO, VP Finance, or equivalent), preferably in consumer-facing direct-to-consumer brands with in-house manufacturing.Hands-on Leadership: Comfortable performing both strategic planning and day-to-day accounting tasks.Industry Experience:Preferably in furniture, consumer products, or ergonomics; experience with D2C channels (e-commerce), 3PL/fulfillment, and manufacturing.Technical Proficiency:GAAP accounting, financial reporting, and internal controlsFP&A, budgeting, and variance analysisCash flow forecasting and treasury managementERP/financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and analytics toolingStrategic & Analytical Thinker: Ability to translate data into actionable business decisions; strong business acumen with a track record of scaling organizationsLeadership & Communication:** Excellent collaboration across cross-functional teams; capable of presenting complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholdersEducation: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA/CFA strongly preferred; MBA a plusMust be under 50 years of ageLives locally in Los Angeles

 Financial Planning & AnalysisBuild rolling financial models and scenario planningCreate quarterly/annual forecasts aligned with growth targetsMonitor KPIs for revenue, gross margin, CAC, LTV, RPU, inventory turnsAccounting & ControlsManage month-end close, consolidation, and financial reportingEnsure GAAP compliance and robust internal controlsOversee tax compliance, audits, and risk managementTreasury & Cash ManagementOptimize working capital, payment terms, and vendor financingManage banking relationships and financing strategiesProduct & Operating FinanceProduct line profitability, cost-to-serve, and pricing optimizationInventory planning, BOM costing, and manufacturing variancesCapex planning and ROI analysis for capacity expansionTeam & SystemsBuild, mentor, and lead the finance orgSelect and implement financial systems and integrationsEstablish scalable processes for a growing D2C and manufacturing footprint
