Job Summary:

The Yard Manager will oversee all aspects of shipping, receiving, inventory, and product distribution for our yard facility. This role is responsible for managing high-volume shipments of pipe between Lane plant locations and customers, ensuring efficient inventory storage and accurate distribution to customers on time. The Yard Manager will maintain a safe, organized yard environment and requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and proficiency in both operational and administrative aspects of yard management.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role has supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Manage all incoming and outgoing shipments of pipe, primarily from internal plant locations and customers.
  • Ensure packing slips, bills of lading, and related paperwork are accurate and properly recorded.
  • Write load diagrams for loaders and assist with loading, unloading, and reloading as needed.
  • Maintain efficient and accurate inventory records
  • Organize pipe within the yard to maximize space and accessibility.
  • Monitor inventory flow to support timely customer fulfillment.
  • Manage the overall layout and organization of the yard to optimize efficiency and safety.
  • Oversee yard maintenance, appearance, and preventative measures to reduce loss and damage.
  • Operate forklift and heavy equipment as needed.
  • Maintain responsibility for the overall safety of the yard.
  • Enforce company safety policies and promote a safety-first culture.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry and company standards.
  • Coordinate closely with production and sales teams to meet shipping schedules and forecast needs.
  • Serve as a point of contact fr distribution-related concerns.
  • Support loaders and drivers in completing accurate and timely deliveries.
  • Maintain all required shipping and inventory paperwork.
  • Track records for auditing, loss prevention, and reporting.
  • Communicate regularly with office staff and management regarding yard activity.

Requirements

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of yard operations.
  • Proficiency with inventory management tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret packing slips, bills of lading, and load diagrams.
  • Hands-on approach to yard operations, including operating forklifts.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience in warehouse, logistics, or yard operations (manufacturing or construction industry preferred).
  • Forklift certification and experience required.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation best practices a plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • Full-time, on-site role in an outdoor yard environment.
  • Exposure to changing weather conditions and physical labor.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and perform manual yard work as needed.

Salary Description
$68,000 - $74,000 + (Bonus & Stock)
