Job Summary

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Travel Respiratory Therapist, where you will deliver expert respiratory care across diverse inpatient and outpatient settings. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in various hospital environments, including Level I and Level II trauma centers, pediatric units, critical care units, and outpatient clinics. You will be responsible for assessing patient needs, managing ventilators, and providing vital respiratory therapies that improve patient outcomes. Details:

Schedule: Day/Night Rotating – 12-hour shifts

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hrs/week

Weekends/Holidays: Every other weekend & holiday

On-Call: None

Unit: Respiratory Therapy

Care Setting: Acute

Trauma Level: II

Charting System: EPIC

Requirements:

  • Active ND Respiratory Therapist license (required to submit)
  • 2+ years experience
  • ICU experience required
  • NICU/PICU/ICU experience preferred
  • Certifications (AHA only):
  • BLS – required
  • ACLS – required
  • RRT or CRT (NBRC) – required
  • PALS & NRP – preferred
  • Orientation: 8 hours

Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, oxygen saturation levels, and respiratory function tests to determine appropriate therapy plans.
  • Administer respiratory treatments such as nebulizers, oxygen therapy, and medication delivery with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Manage ventilator settings and monitor patients on mechanical ventilation, adjusting parameters based on physiology and clinical response.
  • Perform airway management procedures including intubations and suctioning to maintain airway patency in critical situations.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, ICU, pediatrics, geriatrics, and pulmonology to develop individualized care plans.
  • Document all interventions accurately in medical records while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and hospital policies.
  • Participate in patient education regarding respiratory health, medication administration, and post-discharge care instructions.

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of hospital medicine, critical care protocols, and emergency medicine procedures.
  • Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, pulmonology concepts, and medical terminology relevant to respiratory therapy.
  • Proven experience with ventilator management and airway management techniques in high-pressure environments such as ICU or trauma centers.
  • Ability to perform thorough patient assessments including vital signs monitoring and oxygenation evaluation.
  • Familiarity with inpatient and outpatient settings across various specialties including pediatrics and geriatrics.
  • Proficiency in medication administration related to respiratory treatments and acute care interventions.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare teams and educate patients about their respiratory health.
