The HVAC Systems Engineer will ensure that vehicle level HVAC functional objectives are achieved. If objectives are not being met, the systems engineer will root cause the issue and work with the appropriate product / vehicle teams, functional science teams, and powertrain / HVAC calibrators to make change recommendations to improve performance and meet functional objectives. The HVAC Systems Engineer will be responsible for benchmarking competitive vehicles that can be used to set functional objectives for Stellantis vehicles. The HVAC systems engineer will be responsible to aid in setting sub-system technical requirements that will be used by the HVAC and Engine Cooling release teams to properly select and size components / architecture, and then guide the simulation team to ensure selected components will perform as required in vehicle. The HVAC systems engineer will then be responsible for validating vehicle performance through the mule and VP phases, and root cause performance issues. The HVAC Systems Engineer will also assist the HVAC software and calibration group develop the required calibrations. The HVAC Systems Engineer will also be responsible for preparing and presenting HVAC status for their respective programs during step gate release deep dives, and escalating issues for resolution.

Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited school
  • 5 years of product development experience or related experience
  • Strong program management skills, time management, planning, and follow up
  • Experience with HVAC or Cooling Systems, thermal development, PHEV/BEV thermal development
  • Must be able to lead and coordinate program and technical issue resolution
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams
  • Highly motivated, self-started with strong leadership, excellent communication and organizational skills, and demonstrated problem solving ability

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with data acquisition systems
  • Experience with drive cell / wind tunnel testing
  • Chauffeur's License or willingness and ability to get one if required
