Summary of Your Job

As an Operations Assistant, you will support plant operations. The Operations Assistant is responsible for all day-to-day process equipment and procedures including, but not limited to water processing, culture harvest, waste management, equipment construction and modification, process development, SOP development, interfacing between scale-up, fieldoperations and maintenance operations. He/she will work with a team cultivating large scale algal cultures and product separations to meet Algenol's production objectives. On a weekly basis, the Operations Assistant will be responsible for harvest/process algae, clean algal systems, maintain outlined quality standards, and adhere to safety policies. Additionally, the Operations Assistant will be responsible for taking on-call responsibilities. This position will partner with R&D and the Operations team to identify opportunities for process improvements that can be incorporated into plant operations. The position also requires an understanding of plant operational metrics to identify, plan and implement high value improvements and continuously improve plant performance.

Your Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. As with any job, other duties may be assigned to you as appropriate.

  1. Authoring operational checklists and SOPs for production of algal products

  2. Following and updating GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) procedures

  3. Operating production field processes and separations processes

  4. Operating and troubleshooting pumps, valves, and machinery to create algal products

  5. Coordinating photobioreactor and associated systems deployment and service

  6. Reviewing data entry

  7. Interpretation and reporting data

  8. Submitting maintenance requests

  9. Working shifts (including overnight), weekends and holidays

  10. Planning for product development and quality assurance metrics

  11. Communicating parameters that are out of norm or out of spec to production management Adhering to safety policies

  12. Ensuring others are adhering to safety policies

  13. Participating in on-call responsibilities

  14. Participate on design and manufacturing teams to enable novel solutions to the unique technical challenges experienced in the biotech industry

  15. Provide engineering support to maintain daily operation of the entire plant

  16. Maintain a Preventative Maintenance system

  17. Identify opportunities for efficiency, productivity, and reliability improvements

  18. Develop and manage vendor relationships for critical manufacturing systems

Physical Demands of Your Job
