Refrigeration Service Technician

Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Refrigeration Technician to join our team and drive excellence in maintaining, repairing, and installing refrigeration and HVAC systems across diverse property environments. Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of refrigeration systems, including ammonia refrigeration units, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
• Install, maintain, and upgrade HVAC systems such as air conditioning units, boilers, and related mechanical equipment in commercial properties.
• Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, blueprints, and HVAC design plans to accurately execute service tasks.
• Conduct routine maintenance on refrigeration equipment, HVAC systems, plumbing fixtures, and property infrastructure to prevent failures and extend equipment lifespan.
• Perform electrical testing using tools like ohmmeters to identify faults within complex electrical components of refrigeration and HVAC systems.
• Utilize welding techniques for repairs involving metal components or piping within refrigeration or mechanical systems.
• Maintain detailed service records, logs, and reports documenting all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities for compliance and future reference.
• Operate company vehicles safely as a driver to reach various job sites efficiently while adhering to safety protocols.
• Collaborate with property management teams on property maintenance projects involving air conditioning, appliance repair, or mechanical upgrades.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards related to refrigerants such as ammonia or other hazardous materials.
• Assist in the design or modification of HVAC systems by applying HVAC design principles for improved energy efficiency or capacity needs.
• Support emergency repairs or service calls promptly to minimize operational disruptions across client facilities.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a service technician specializing in refrigeration (including ammonia refrigeration), HVAC/R systems, or mechanical maintenance.
• Strong understanding of construction practices related to mechanical installations and property infrastructure.
• Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams accurately for troubleshooting and installation purposes.
• Mechanical knowledge encompassing plumbing systems, boiler operation, appliance repair, welding techniques, and equipment repair.
• Field service experience with a focus on property maintenance or commercial refrigeration environments.
• Familiarity with HVAC design concepts and the ability to adapt plans for specific project needs.
• Proficiency with electrical testing tools such as ohmmeters for diagnosing electrical issues within complex systems.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for safe vehicle operation during service calls.
• Knowledge of refrigerants including ammonia refrigeration safety protocols is highly desirable.
• Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining high standards of quality control and safety compliance.
