Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Staff Development (DSD) to oversee onboarding, orientation, and ongoing training for our care team. The DSD ensures that all staff are fully equipped with the knowledge, skills, and education required to provide safe, compassionate, and high-quality care. This leadership role also supports the development and compliance of our infection prevention and control programs.
The ideal candidate leads by example, demonstrating kindness, professionalism, and encouragement while upholding company values and regulatory standards.
Qualifications – We'd Love to Hear from You if You Have:
- A valid LVN or RN license in good standing
- A minimum of 1 year experience providing direct care in a long-term care or similar setting
- At least 1 year of experience in training delivery, staff supervision, or leadership roles
- Strong knowledge of California long-term care regulations, practices, procedures, and staffing laws
- The ability to remain professional, kind, and calm in all workplace interactions
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops, organizes, and directs all educational programs and job-related training in compliance with company policies and applicable regulations
- Maintains up-to-date and accurate records for staff certifications, licenses, orientation, and ongoing training
- Ensures completion of all pre-employment requirements, including physicals, drug testing, reference checks, and background screenings
- Collaborates with department leaders on policy development, revisions, and implementation of staff education
- Coordinates annual and monthly in-service training calendars and communicates schedules clearly to relevant departments
- Continuously evaluates training programs and updates materials to align with changes in law, regulation, and best practices
