We're seeking
Electrical Technicians
with strong knowledge of
AC/DC theory
and hands-on experience in
protective systems testing
,
relay troubleshooting
, and
substation operations
. This role offers a chance to work on
high-voltage utility systems
, perform critical
field testing
, and grow within a safety-focused, technical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform
    field testing and troubleshooting
    of
    protective relays
    , transformer differential schemes, circuit breakers, and other substation control equipment.
  • Interpret and analyze
    schematics, wiring diagrams, and logic drawings
    .
  • Use
    automated testing systems
    and
    manual diagnostic tools
    to ensure proper protection system function.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to ensure
    system integrity and safety compliance
    .
  • Participate in
    rotational on-call coverage
    and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Maintain detailed testing records and complete technical documentation.

Qualifications

  • AAS in Electrical Technology
    , Engineering Science, or closely related field (or relevant military/electronics technician background).
  • Strong understanding of
    three-phase systems
    ,
    vector analysis
    ,
    trigonometry
    , and
    AC/DC circuit theory
    .
  • Experience with
    protective relay testing
    , preferably with utility systems or high-voltage infrastructure.
  • Comfortable working in
    confined spaces
    ,
    elevated structures
    , and with
    full PPE
    (SCBA, rubber gloves, etc.).
  • Valid driver's license and ability to work across sites (Bronx, Brooklyn, Millwood, Flushing, etc.).

Preferred

  • Military experience
    (e.g., Nuclear or Aviation Electronics Technician) a big plus
  • Familiarity with
    SCADA
    ,
    RTUs
    , and microprocessor-based protection systems
  • Experience with OSHA, EH&S, and industry safety compliance standards
