This position is hybrid, located in Anchorage, Alaska with regular in-office scheduling.
ABOUT THIS POSITION: ANTHC is the home of the National Network Coordinating Center (NCC) for Tribal Epidemiology Centers Public Health Infrastructure (TECPHI). This role will work towards the mission of CDC's TECPHI program, to improve the health of Alaska Native and American Indian (AN/AI) communities. TECPHI's mission is to support Tribal Epidemiology Centers (TECs) by building public health capacity and infrastructure for the Tribes, villages, and Urban Indian Organizations they serve. The Network Coordinating Center supports all TECs (12 nationwide) through the coordination of the national program evaluation, communicating impact and successes, and fostering collaboration and peer-to-peer learning.

Position Summary
Under general direction, manages project planning, funding, approval, and implementation. Works with staff members and other stakeholders to successfully planning and execute projects that support the priorities of the organization while ensuring that projects are completed on schedule.

Position Responsibilities
Coordinates and manages projects, incorporating and adhering to project management standards and methodology, using prescribed tools and documents as required to coordinate and manager projects. Successfully manages the scope of the project, including client priorities and expectations of product and services, ensuring customer satisfaction.

Tracks the day-to-day activities required to ensure projects are completed on time, successfully, and in a manner consistent with organizational goals, departmental policies, and/or the standard terms and conditions of the contract, if applicable.

Coordinates assigned staff in all aspects of the planning, design and implementation of highly complex projects. Manages the integration of vendor tasks and tracks/reviews vendor deliverables. Serves as the lead contact for internal and external customers on assigned projects.

Forecasts resource needs and secures skilled staff from resource managers as far in advance as possible. Develops budgets and tracks invoicing as appropriate.

Communicates all of the requirements and commitments (both verbally and in writing) for each project with clients, ANTHC staff and management. Participates with other project managers in standards development, educational sessions and process improvement projects.

Publishes and maintains status reports, communication plans, and risk plans as is consistent with ANMC standards. Conducts project meetings and is responsible for project tracking analysis and project budgets.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Project Manager I

Assists in the development of project scope and objectives. Assists in the development of detailed work plans, which include clear milestones and assignment of project task responsibilities and schedules.

KNOWLEDGE And SKILLS
All

  • Knowledge and proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Knowledge of Project management experience to include the use of standard methodologies on complex projects in a healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of applicable statutes, rules, regulations, ordinances, codes, administrative orders and other operational guidelines and directives. Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, contractors, and representatives from other local, state and Federal organizations.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with individuals with wide array of cultural, political, educational, socio-economic, geographic and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Skill in addressing sensitive issues and situations.
  • Skill in advising leaders of complex organizational units.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

Project Manager I, II

Bachelor's degree in project management or related field. Progressively responsible professional/exempt work experience in all aspects of the planning, design and implementation of highly complex projects may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

Minimum Experience Qualification
Project Manager I

Non-supervisory- Four (4) years professional work experience managing major projects or working in positions using all the aspects of planning, design and implementation of projects. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.
