Location: Seattle, WA | Full-Time
GEMS is seeking a highly skilled and mission-driven Transportation Engineer to help shape the future of mobility across the Puget Sound region. This role is central to delivering engineering excellence across all phases of transit infrastructure—from concept to construction and beyond. Major projects include Light rail, Trains, and Bus rapid transit.
What You'll Do
You'll manage and produce engineering deliverables that support the planning, design, procurement, construction, operations, and maintenance of Transit facilities. Your scope will include:
- Planning Studies, Design Standards, Project Definition Books (PDB), Basis of Design (BOD)
- Concept Design, Schematic Design, Design Development
- Plan-Check & Permitting, Construction Documents, Bidding & Procurement Support
- Stamping Construction Documents, Construction Administration
- Stakeholder Outreach, Technical Reports, Presentations
- Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Cleanup Action Plans, Remediation Cost Estimates
- Materials Content Analysis, Embodied Energy in Materials, Renewable Energy Integration, Energy Modeling
Qualifications
- 10+ years of Transportation engineering experience on large-scale projects (transit preferred)
- BS in Engineering or related field (required)
- MS in Engineering or related field (preferred)
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) WA State preferred
- Proven experience in transportation infrastructure, public works, or transit systems
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary coordination and agency standards
Preferred Certifications
We welcome candidates with advanced credentials. Optional certifications include:
- LEED, Envision, PMP
- AEE (CWEP, REP, CAP, SPVP, GBE)
- ASHRAE (BCxP, BEAP, BEMP, HBDP)
- Any other relevant professional licensure or certification
