Civil Engineer – Infrastructure & Transit Delivery Seattle, WA | Full-Time

Sound Transit is seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to manage and produce engineering deliverables that support the planning, design, procurement, construction, operations, and maintenance of our regional transit facilities. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of mobility while advancing sustainability and innovation across complex infrastructure programs. Major projects in Light rail, Trains, and Bus rapid transit.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead engineering efforts across all project phases, from Planning Studies and Design Standards to Construction Documents and Technical Reports
  • Prepare and stamp construction documents, support permitting, and guide procurement processes
  • Conduct stakeholder outreach and present technical findings to internal and external audiences
  • Perform remedial investigations, feasibility studies, and develop cleanup action plans and remediation cost estimates
  • Integrate sustainability into design through energy modeling, embodied energy analysis, and renewable energy strategies

Key Deliverables May Include:

  • Project Definition Book (PDB), Basis of Design (BOD), Concept & Schematic Design
  • Drawings, specifications, and technical reports
  • Construction administration and permitting support
  • Sustainability documentation and modeling

What You Bring:

  • 10+ years of civil engineering experience on large-scale projects (transit preferred)
  • BS in Engineering or related field (required); MS preferred
  • Licensed Engineer (WA Board of Engineers preferred)
  • Optional certifications such as LEED, Envision, PMP, AEE (CWEP, REP, CAP, SPVP, GBE), ASHRAE (BCxP, BEAP, BEMP, HBDP) are highly valued
  • Strong technical writing, stakeholder coordination, and project leadership skills
