Job Description:
Guides the development and improvement of systems, processes and initiatives. Consults and assists with internal reviews. Collaborates, designs, and delivers education. Reviews safety events, applies appropriate severity coding and then partners with both the Risk Management and Legal teams for appropriate reviews.
Supports the Risk Management team by working with the policy content owners and helping to maintain the current Risk Management owned policies. Requires someone with close attention to detail, self-initiative, and excellent critical thinking skills.
Principle Responsibilities
- Risk Prevention
- Identifies, creates, and partners with Risk Management leaders on policies and improvement initiatives.
- Independently reviews and investigates internal patient safety event reports. Analyze level of harm, preventability, risk, and liability exposure. Escalates to Risk Managers and legal team per internal processes.
- Partners with Risk Management and Legal teams in the management of claims.
- Reviews, investigates, and analyzes claims and risk reports.
- Serves as Risk and Legal Department internal expert in use of claims management system.
- Maintains awareness of issues and monitors trends.
- Supports recall and safety alert notice processes.
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders, offering consults and education as needed.
- May assist with the management and respond to complaints and inquiries from internal and external customers.
- Facilitates and participates on committees.
- Assists in maintaining regulatory requirements.
- Participates in inter-disciplinary safety huddles as directed/needed.
- Team Support
- Supports the Risk Management team in technical, data, and document management related to risk, safety, complaint/grievance, and claims.
- Partners with Risk Program Coordinators to manage the Risk Management page on the Allina intranet.
- Takes minutes for various meetings as needed.
- Drafts safety alerts and advisories.
- Collects data from multiple information sources, collates data, and organizes in professional and understandable way for risk management and/or Legal team analysis.
- May also need to research best practice information for risk team via the internet or library services requests.
- Supports Risk Management team with oversight of Risk Owned policies
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
- Project Management
- Supports risk project management needs to organize the project work.
- Develop timelines, flowcharts, presentations, and documents related to risk project work.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 3 to 7 years of Risk Management experience or relevant health care field
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare/Project Management/Business Administration
Licenses/Certifications
- Certification/License in Healthcare preferred
Physical Demands
- Sedentary:
- Lifting weight up to 10 lbs. occasionally, negligible weight frequently
Additional Job Description:
- 1 FTE (40 hours per week)
- 8- hour day shift
- No weekends
Pay Range:
Pay Range: $34.83 to $47.74 per hour
The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
