Overview

Juncos Hollinger Racing is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Truck Driver and Tire Technician to join our Indy NXT team

As one of JHR's Truck Drivers, this individual plays a crucial role in ensuring the logistical success of the team during the racing season. Their responsibilities go beyond just driving the truck; they are integral to the team's ability to compete by ensuring that all necessary equipment, vehicles, and personnel arrive safely and on time at each race venue. Additionally as Tire Technician, they play an important role in ensuring that the car's tires are optimized for performance, safety, and efficiency during a race.

Responsibilities

Truck Driver Responsibilities:

  • Safely transporting the team's race cars, spare parts, tools, and other essential equipment to and from the racetracks.
  • Ensuring that the load is properly secured and adheres to transportation regulations, considering the high value and precision of the cargo.
  • Regularly inspecting and maintaining the hauler (truck and trailer) to ensure it's in top working condition, as breakdowns could delay the team's arrival and preparations for race day.
  • In coordination with the Head of Transportation, schedules maintenance and repairs, including tire checks, engine servicing, and keeping the hauler clean and organized.
  • Keeping track of the equipment being transported, ensuring that the necessary parts and tools are packed and readily accessible when needed. Assisting with inventory control by organizing and loading/unloading the equipment at each event. The driver may assist with various tasks at the track, including but not limited to last-minute preparations, maintenance of equipment, or even taking care of catering or hospitality setup.

  • Abiding by all road safety rules, legal limits for hours of service, and ensuring compliance with transportation laws.
  • Ensuring that all necessary permits are in place, especially for long-haul or cross-country travel.

Tire Technician Responsibilities:

  • Before the race, tire technicians are responsible for mounting the tires onto the rims and ensuring they are perfectly balanced for optimum car performance.
  • During the race, the tire technician may help with the tire changes during pit stops. Tire technicians adjust and monitor the pressure in each tire and analyze the wear patterns of the tires. They log all relevant tire data, including pressure, temperature, and wear levels, and report this information to the race engineers and strategists.
  • After the race, tire technicians examine the tires to gather data on wear, degradation, and how well the tire compound performed under race conditions. This information is crucial for refining strategy for future races and making adjustments to the car setup.
