Job Summary:
Apex Waste Solutions is seeking an Operations Clerk to support daily operational functions. This position ensures that routes, drivers, and customer service needs are coordinated efficiently while maintaining accurate records and communication between departments. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment to support both administrative and dispatching needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Dispatching
- Coordinate and dispatch daily routes for waste collection trucks, ensuring timely and efficient service.
- Communicate with drivers throughout the day to monitor route progress, resolve issues, and update schedules as needed.
- Respond promptly to service requests, route changes, and emergencies.
- Maintain real-time communication with customers, drivers, and operations management.
- Track vehicle locations, route performance, and completion status using dispatch or GPS systems.
- Record driver start/end times, route completion details, and service notes.
Operations Support
- Assist in maintaining accurate driver logs, route sheets, and disposal tickets.
- Input daily route and customer data into company systems for billing and reporting.
- Support compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company safety requirements.
- Monitor equipment availability and assist with maintenance scheduling.
- Process and file operational paperwork including manifests, weight tickets, and route reports.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports for management review.
- Support customer service representatives with service issues or account updates.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and coordinate deliveries as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
- 1–3 years of administrative, operations, or dispatch experience (waste industry experience a plus).
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and dispatch/routing software.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent attention to detail and recordkeeping accuracy.
- Knowledge of local geography and service areas preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position, Monday through Friday
- In Office
- Frequent use of a computer, phone, and headset
