About the Position

Please note that you must hold a license in Arizona from the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health as one of the following: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor (LISAC). Additionally, you must be a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

The Behavioral Health Analyst is a part of a dynamic team within an integrated model of care dedicated to providing adolescents with support and resources that will inspire effective long-lasting change. We approach adolescent mental health concerns through a multidisciplinary model which facilitates ongoing communication between members of the care team and provides greater continuity of care. The Behavioral Health Analyst studies behavior patterns and creates individualized treatment plans targeting maladaptive behaviors to produce positive outcomes.

This is a fast-paced clinical work environment that provides: solution focused counseling, skills-based counseling, substance use counseling, Dialectical behavioral therapy, and crisis intervention. Successful candidates enjoy effecting change in others and working both autonomously as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Position Qualifications

Education:

  • Master's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education or another closely related field

Experience:

  • Two (2) years of full-time behavioral health experience post BCBA licensure

Other Requirements:

  • Must be licensed in Arizona by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health with one of the following: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor (LISAC)
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
  • Valid Arizona Driver License
  • Must pass a background investigation and PREA clearance
  • Positions in Detention are subject to Tuberculosis (TB) testing, and all offers of employment are subject to successful completion of new employee processing and a negative TB result prior to your start date

Knowledge of:

  • Behavior modification approaches
  • Related assessments and their analysis/interpretation in regard to behavior
  • Various disabilities and best practices for working with youth with disabilities

  • Communicates effectively in both oral and written forms
  • Conducting group and individual sessions

Ability to:

  • Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with individuals and groups
  • Present ideas clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
  • Appropriately engage in, establish, and maintain relationships with co-workers and detained youth

Essential Job Tasks

(This is not an all-inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.)

  • Conduct functional behavior assessments and develop individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) for youth to address challenging behavior
  • Provides specialized treatment to adolescents who are seriously mentally ill, cognitively impaired, or developmentally disabled to meet their specific needs
  • Meet with the team to discuss the treatment plans for the youth on an ongoing basis.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans for youth with developmental disorders such as autism.
  • Work with direct care staff, counselors, medical staff and the education staff to help navigate behavioral challenges which are outlined in the treatment plan.
  • Train staff in de-escalation techniques, positive reinforcement strategies, and maintaining a calm environment that fosters positive behavior
  • Train staff on specific behavior treatment plan for youth
  • Design and implement data collection systems and assist in interpretation of that data
  • Modify any programs that are not making progress or that the youth has mastered
  • Conduct assessments not limited to the VB-MAPP, ABLLS, or AFLS upon intake and every 6 months, thereafter
  • Track all authorizations dates for youth and update all treatment plans before authorizations expire
  • Monitor and adjust behavior plan throughout treatment period in accordance with the youth's progression.
  • Provide regular parent/caretaker training
  • Maintain knowledge of different programs and certifications through CEU events
  • Assist with any clinical needs as they arise

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to communicate clearly, perceive details of objects that are close by, and maintain various physical positions for extended periods, such as sitting, standing, or walking. The job may involve using hands for tasks such as typing, handling objects, or operating tools, as well as reaching with hands and arms. Occasionally, the employee may be required to move or lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.

Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County participates in the State Retirement systems ASRS or PSPRS. As such, mandatory membership for all full-time employees includes payroll deducted contributions consistent with each retirement system's requirements. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan.
