Director of Memory Care

Position Summary:
This position is being filled on a temporary basis. The temporary assignment will begin on ASAP and is expected to continue until leave of absence is concluded. This role is intended to maintain continuity of operations during the absence and does not represent a permanent change in staffing. Upon the employee's return, the temporary assignment will conclude. Responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of all resident care prescribed and provided.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following duties are normal for this position. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
· Plan, direct, and evaluate the activities of the department in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and guidelines.
· Administer employee policies and procedures. Develop, maintain and periodically update written policies and procedures and job descriptions. Orient staff and train on policies and procedures. Ensure that all staff receive the company specific Memory Care and state mandated training within the established timeline.
· Supervise, schedule and evaluate staff.
· Develop departmental budget and staffing plan.
· Make reports and recommendations to the Executive Director as necessary or required concerning the operation of the Memory Care setting.
· Develop, implement, audit and maintain an ongoing quality assurance program and provide appropriate plans of action to correct any identified deficiencies.
· Take initiative to actively plan, develop, and implement expansion and/or innovation in program services with the Program Coordinator and collaborate on creating calendars and functional activities schedules
· Provide close oversight of programming ensuring the programming and daily functional schedule is compliant with the program and is appropriate to the current residents
· Provides guidance and feedback to Program Coordinator
· Communicate successes and challenges on a daily basis to the Executive Director.,
· Actively communicate and work with families and residents of Memory Care to assist in safe, respectful and appropriate transitions to other care settings, as necessary. Meet with staff and evaluate feedback to ensure safety and appropriate level of care.
· Develop methods for coordination of the Memory Care department's services with other resident services, to ensure the continuity of the residents' total regimen of care.
· Oversee surveys and inspections made by government agencies.
· Complete appropriate forms, reports, evaluations, and studies.
· Assist with resident care as needed.
· Continue to develop job related knowledge, skills and abilities by participating in continuing educational opportunities for personal growth and development.
· Attend in-service classes and staff meetings, as required.
· Dependable and able to meet schedule requirements (attendance and punctuality).
· Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· The position reports to the Executive Director and is expected to perform independently and exercise good judgment. The position supervises, directs, and reviews the work of other employees, conducts performance appraisals, and takes disciplinary action.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
Educational Requirements and Experience:
- Combination of education and/or experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university, with major work in related field required
- At least 2 years of progressively responsible work experience in the long-term care industry or related field required.
- RN or LPN license required or as directed by applicable state requirements.
- Current CPR certification required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Ability to read and write, follow written and oral instructions, and communicate effectively in English. Ability to work with the elderly in a courteous and friendly manner, demonstrating patience and compassion. Ability to perform duties with consideration for residents' rights at all times and demonstrate integrity and discretion in the care of residents and in handling their health information. Leadership and motivational skills.
Technical Skills: · Knowledge of medical/nursing practices and procedures, laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to senior living industry. Experience with clinical and diagnostic procedures. Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, interpret, and manage programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and resources necessary to provide quality of care. Physical/Sensory Demands:
· On a daily basis, throughout the workday: Must be capable of sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, reaching, turning, bending, stooping, crouching and kneeling, reaching over the head, grasping with both hands, and fine manipulation. Must physically be able to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Must physically be able to carry, transfer, push and pull, and reposition residents with assistance or using appropriate equipment. Must have normal eyesight or use corrective lenses. Must have three-dimensional vision and ability to judge distances and spatial relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are. Must be able to recognize colors. Must be able to hear and distinguish between normal tones and be able to perceive the nature of sounds. Must be able to exchange ideas by means of the spoken word as well as engage in activities to convey detailed or spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, and/or quickly. Must have normal sense of touch and smell.
Environmental Adaptability and Safety:
· Works in well-lighted, well ventilated building. Must be able to tolerate occasional exposure to dust, fumes, odors, water, etc., as well as some noise. Subject to frequent interruptions. Subject to hostile or emotionally upset individuals. Must be willing to work, when necessary, beyond normal working hours and on weekends, as well as in other positions as necessary. The position requires exposure to some risk to physical and/or mental health and safety (i.e., physical assault, communicable disease, etc).

This position may include access to Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined within the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy and Security Rule. PHI refers to individually identifiable health information that is transmitted or maintained in electronic media or any other form or medium. Under the direction of the Privacy/Security Officer, associates who have access to PHI will receive training on the requirements of the Rule and the Company's health information policies and procedures. Associates who violate the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rule are subject to discipline, up to and including termination.
Pay: $90, $100,000.00 per year
