Established in 1994, St Nicks Alliance's Youth and Education serves more than 6,000 North Brooklyn youth each year. In partnership with schools, families and community, St. Nicks Alliance's holistic approach to transformation combines youth development, academic enrichment, health and wellness, arts learning and post-secondary readiness.

About AmeriCorps and this Opportunity:

St. Nicks Alliance is entering its fourth year as an AmeriCorps provider. AmeriCorps is an exciting program that involves more than 80,000 Americans each year who work to meet community needs. Voluntary service in AmeriCorps may be either full or part time. Services are provided to communities through all kinds of nonprofits, public agencies, and religious organizations.

The full-time AmeriCorps Program Manager oversees the recruitment, onboarding and development of AmeriCorps members, in addition to, the management of all administrative and programmatic compliance of AmeriCorps Federal Government regulations and standards and St Nicks Alliance AmeriCorps model. The ideal candidate will have experience with AmeriCorps; Secondary, Post Secondary, Workforce, Elementary/Middle school or other volunteer programs; and/or experience in managing strict compliance and performance-based programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Administrative and Training:

● Develop new and maintain the existing management systems that will sustain recruitment, onboarding, enrollment, service compliance, professional development and retention of AmeriCorps Volunteers.

● Manage service hours, timesheets, task supervision, member schedules, and other member related communications

● Maintain compliance of member folders with programmatic documents, work products, evaluations, payroll, professional development, etc.

● Attend all AmeriCorps meetings and trainings, as required by contract agreement.

● Plan and develop quarterly evaluations and strategies that will include member and task supervisor feedback for the implementation of ongoing support and retention of members.

● Monitor program sites to ensure that project requirements and objectives are met on a timely basis.

● Work directly with assigned school's alumnae to provide post-graduation supports and create an alumnae network

● Serve as principal liaison to New York Commission staff for day-to-day program implementation issues.

● Complete all AmeriCorps reports during the course of the program year.

Program Implementation:

● Create outreach and enrollment strategies that involve St. Nicks Alliance internal departments, school partners and the community, to satisfy AmeriCorps contract fulfillment.

● Align AmeriCorps service model with St Nicks Youth & Education and Career GPS and School Success Model to create a program design that sustain programmatic goals, outcomes and continuity.

● Develop alumni activities and opportunities to help members with next steps after service year(s) and to help promote the AmeriCorps program to prospect members.

● Develop individualized progress report of AmeriCorps members at host site locations

● Coordinate program planning meetings and training activities including full participation of the AmeriCorps members training.

● Conduct site visits to provide technical support to program site coordinators, interview members, and ensure 100% of in person volunteer services.

● Assume additional, related responsibilities, as assigned or agreed upon with your supervisor.

Supervision and Management

  • Hire, supervise and coach an Assistant Director.
  • Ensure that AmeriCorps Members are successfully onboarded, trained and supported
  • Develop a strong team within AmeriCorps consistent with the transformational culture of St. Nicks Alliance
  • Meaningfully contribute to a strong team across St. Nicks Alliance's teen portfolio and Youth and Education Department
  • Work closely with Youth and Education leadership and the AmeriCorps team to identify and engage in professional development opportunities and career planning, to ensure continued growth

Must Have Core Competencies, Education, Skills and Knowledge

● Bachelor's degree in related field

● Three years of demonstrated successful professional experience in Youth Development,

Workforce Solutions, College Access/Post Secondary or Mentoring programs.

● Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills

● Strong analytical/problem solving skills

● Demonstrated ability to manage young adult program(s).

● Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Computer navigation

● Experienced developing workshops, training and partnerships.

● Self-Starter, team player, adaptable, flexible, and highly organized

● Culturally sensitive and competent.
