Truss Designer

About the Position:

We are looking for a talented Truss Designer / Estimator to become part of our fully remote design team. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with proven experience in wood truss engineering, material estimating, and construction documentation. This full-time position offers the chance to work on a variety of residential and light commercial projects while collaborating virtually with engineers, sales representatives, and clients.

Main Responsibilities:

• Develop accurate and code-compliant roof and floor truss layouts using Alpine software.
• Produce detailed material lists, layouts, and cost estimates for assigned projects.
• Review architectural and structural drawings to ensure precision and buildability.
• Partner with internal teams in production, sales, and engineering to provide efficient design solutions.
• Detect and address potential design issues early in the process.
• Maintain organized project documentation and ensure deadlines are met.
• Communicate proactively with team members and customers to ensure project alignment and satisfaction.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience with Alpine truss design software (required).
• Solid knowledge of wood structural design concepts, building codes, and load paths.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage tasks independently in a remote work environment.
• 2–4 years of experience in truss design or estimating.
• Technical degree or coursework in construction, architecture, or engineering is preferred.
