Position Description:

The University of Louisville Bioengineering Department is seeking to hire a Research Technician II focused on computational modeling.

The Department of Bioengineering is seeking applicants interested in the design and execution of computational methods to analyze clinical and biological data, with research focusing on a variety of diseases, including cancer, lung and infectious diseases. Candidates should have a proven track record of computational modeling and analysis applied to biomedical data related to these conditions.  This Computational Modeler position will serve to study and analyze these data for research purposes. Broadly, the work is focused on analyzing patient survival and response to therapy to predict outcomes. A diverse and multidisciplinary approach is applied with researchers at UofL and collaborators at other institutions.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Specify computational models to simulate disease progression and treatment response

  • Develop computational simulations to analyze clinical and biological data

  • Visualize results, manuscript writing, and presentation to other researchers.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in academic research

  • Knowledge of Python or R programming

  • Experience with medical and clinical datasets

  • Research data analysis and manuscript writing experience; preparation of materials for research and published reports, as evidenced by prior work.

  • Master's degree in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

  • Ability to interface with students, researchers, and clinical collaborators

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Able to work autonomously or as part of a team of researchers

  • Ability to identify risks and issues and make recommendations regarding scope, schedule, and resources
