      Jackson Elementary will need a long term substitute teacher in a SpecialEd Resource classroom starting when filled until the end of the school year. 

Pay rates:

  • sub license $100/ day.  After 15 consecutive days, in the same position, you will make min $150/day
  • Indiana teaching license $115/day  
  • retired Duneland teacher $120/day
  • with an Indiana teaching license after 15 consecutive days in the same position you will make beginning teacher pay which is $291.89/day
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Provides instruction and strategies within a variety of settings to address the academic and emotional needs of students. Provides modifications to curriculum to address the intellectual, social, pre-vocational and adaptive needs of students. Leads an educational program for students in an environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establishes effective rapport with students to promote positive attitudes of self-worth; motivates students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further participation in the total school program, in accordance with each student's ability; establishes good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Credential – Any valid credential issued by the State of Indiana to perform the services of a substitute teacher in a self-contained classroom.  Valid/active Indiana Elementary Teaching License with Mild Intervention and Intense Intervention Endorsements preferred
  2. Experience-
    • Experience working with emotional and behavioral disabilities preferred
  3. Education – Bachelor's degree, including all courses needed to meet credential requirements
  4. Understanding of state and federal regulations and laws serving individuals with disabilities (i.e. Article VII, IDEA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the ADA, etc.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  1. Provide direct and/or indirect services through a variety of methods to assigned students according to the IEP or ISP
  2. Participate in the case conference committee meeting as the student's special education teacher
  3. Create IEPs including measurable goals, services, accommodations and all relevant areas to address unique student needs
  4. Regularly monitor and manage the implementation of students' IEP or Service Plans
  • Ensure confidentiality and accessibility of the plan(s) to appropriate and approved stakeholders
  • Inform appropriate and approved teachers and related services providers of their specific responsibilities related to the plan(s) and serves as a resource to all other personnel providing services to assigned students
  • Direct instructional aides and paraprofessionals and coordinate their work for the purpose of providing an effective school program according to individual student needs
  • Complete Progress Monitoring of IEP goals and provide to parents on a regular basis
 
  1. Serve as a resource for school-based interventions for students
  2. Follow the criteria established in the Duneland School Corporation Teacher Evaluation Plan
  3. Provide learning experiences in accordance with the Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum  designed by Duneland School Corporation
  4. Plan, organize and deliver Specially Designed Instruction and interventions to meet diverse needs of students.  Maintain awareness of state standards specified in state law, administrative regulations, or set by the Duneland School Corporation
  5. Plan, organize, and implement differentiated lessons to meet the diverse needs of students
  6. Establish and implement clear objectives for each lesson
  7. Engage students in meaningful activities to assure student mastery of content
  8. Apply Depth of Knowledge strands in instructional strategies
  9. Enter student grades in student information system
  10. Communicate with building principal about special education issues and trends
  11. Confer with parents and colleagues to address student academic and behavioral needs
  12. Establish and implement classroom rules and procedures to provide an environment conducive to learning
  13. Administer assessments as required by the state of Indiana and the corporation
  14. Interact with colleagues, parents, and students in a manner that is professional and reflect the expectations of leadership within the school and corporation
  15. Follow all expectations described in IDEA, Article 7, the Duneland School Corporation's Teacher Agreement and employee handbook
  16. Follow all procedures and expectations established by the building principal and /or corporation leadership
  17. Monitor and supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day. This includes monitoring and escorting students as they change classrooms through-out the building
  18. Share in the sponsorship of school and grade level activities and participate in faculty committees

Equipment: This position is required to maintain a working knowledge of all instructional equipment.  A basic knowledge of operations for computers and software, printers, projectors, smart boards, telephone systems, fax machines and copiers is required.
 
Hours: The regular teacher day is eight (8) hours except on those days that teachers are involved in a meeting or plan session called by an administrator or team leader or teachers having a student/parent conference.  185 days per year.
