An internship with American Family Insurance is a great opportunity to build your skillset and explore your career interests. Our summer student internship is a 10 to 14 week program that starts in mid to late May and ends in August. During your internship, you'll work on impactful projects that make a difference at our company, with our customers, and in our communities. You'll also gain exposure to different areas of our business and have numerous opportunities for networking and coaching.

Interns may be eligible for a one-time hiring bonus to assist with housing costs depending upon proximity to an AmFam office location.

Compensation Minimum: $25.00
Compensation Maximum: $39.00

As a Machine Learning Intern you will work closely with an AmFam Data Scientist on challenging research projects for machine learning models. You will also have the opportunity to build AI/ML models to solve real world business problems and/or conduct data science research leading to a conference publication.

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of our business, corporate culture and structure to support your work.

• Contribute creative ideas and strategic approaches in response to changing situations.

• Build and develop ML applications to address business problems

• Assist with data cleaning and preparation

• Presents project results to management and/or department personnel.

• Stay up to date on current AI trends through research and seminars

Requirements

• Must be in student status at an accredited 4-year college or university during the internship, graduating August 2026 or later.

• Must be pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD.

• Major/program must align with internship role.

• Experience with Python

• Experience with SKLearn

• Experience with Pytorch/Tensorflow

• Experience with AWS or GCP

• Basic understanding of computer vision, natural language processing, machine learning related task

Work Location:
This role may be considered for a Full-Time in Office or Hybrid work arrangement based on the selected candidate's location. Work locations for this role include Madison, WI; Boston, MA.Additional Information
