Job Summary: 
The Site Safety Representative plays a key role in supporting the implementation and maintenance of workplace safety and environmental programs. Under the direction of the Safety Supervisor, this role is responsible for performing inspections, assisting in training, conducting incident investigations, maintaining records, and helping ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and local safety regulations. The Safety Representative is a frontline leader in promoting a safety-first culture throughout the facility.

Scope of job:  
This role supports all operations at the production facility and may coordinate with distribution and retail as needed. It involves direct engagement with employees, supervisors, contractors, and vendors to ensure safety policies and procedures are followed. This position contributes to site compliance, training delivery, employee engagement, and safety data analysis.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular safety walkthroughs and audits of the manufacturing site to identify and report potential hazards. 
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents, near misses, and injuries, and support the implementation of corrective actions. 
  • Monitor safety conditions and behaviors, ensuring compliance with PPE, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and other critical procedures.
  • Deliver and reinforce safety training programs including onboarding, refreshers, and task-specific training. 
  • Maintain documentation such as training records, SDS, inspection logs, and incident reports. 
  • Participate in hazard assessments and job safety analyses (JSAs). 
  • Assist with safety signage, bulletin boards, and communication efforts. 
  • Provide input to the Safety Supervisor on trends, concerns, and safety improvements. 
  • Handle confidential information with discretion. 
  • Analyze safety metrics to identify performance improvement opportunities. 
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee safety concerns and proactive feedback. 
  • Support site emergency preparedness drills and BBS (Behavior-Based Safety) efforts, including recognition components. 
  • Demonstrate a customer-centric mindset by supporting employees with empathy and a focus on exceeding expectations.
  • Open and close the facility as assigned, ensuring safety and security procedures are followed. Monitor and secure employee entrances and access points. Assist with signing in and verifying credentials for visitors, vendors, and contractors. Coordinate with Loss Prevention on safety-security matters.

Education, Experience, and/or Certifications:

  • 1–3 years of experience in safety, operations, or a related field. 
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred. 
  • First Aid/CPR certified and PIT Operator certification or willingness to obtain. 
  • Experience with Behavior-Based Safety Programs is preferred.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods of walking in a production environment.
  • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to hear and listen to effectively communicate.
  • Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform tasks using hands and fingers.
  • Must be able to navigate the worksite, including occasional bending, kneeling, reaching, squatting, and climbing ladders or step stools.
  • Frequent use of a computer and other office equipment.
