Finance Technician

Qualifications - Education

• High School Diploma required
• Associate's degree preferred

Qualifications - Experience

• Accounts Payable and Receivable experience preferred

Qualifications - Skills

• Ability to work both independently and cooperatively as a team member
• Demonstrated ability to manage department work flow with an emphasis on customer service and timeliness
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent organization skills
• Experience and proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Word
• Strong analytical, research, and mathematical aptitude
• Dependable and able to handle confidential information with discretion

Sample Job Responsibilities

• Provides financial record keeping in accordance with district, state and federal policies and requirements
• Prepare periodic and annual special financial reports as required
• Prepare and assist with accounting functions
• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, grant monitoring and general ledger functions
• Matches and reconciles receiving information and purchase orders to vendor invoices and prepared documents for processing
• Processes weekly computer-printed accounts payable check runs and distributes payments to vendors
• Verifies financial information for accuracy
• Processes and enacts bank transactions
• Assists in the preparation of audit processes
• Provide exceptional support to staff and external individuals
• Prepare journal entries

• Primarily sedentary work involving extended periods of sitting and computer use
• Occasional walking or standing within an office or school building to retrieve files, assist visitors, or attend meetings
• Frequent verbal and written communication using phone, email, and in-person interactions
• Daily use of office technology including computers, printers, and phones
• May occasionally lift or move materials or packages weighing up to 20 pounds
