Financial Analyst 12 This position functions as a financial analyst within the Accounting Division of the Bureau of Fiscal Management, Budget & Operations Administration of Department of Corrections. This position is the agency’s sole source and recognized resource for Fixed (Capital) Assets including but not limited to recording additions, transfers and deletions of real property, lease obligations and equipment owned by the agency. Also, this position works as a sole source and a recognized resource for the required Government Financial reporting to uncover trends and report findings. This financial analyst is responsible for analyzing Undistributed Receipts, annual escheating and resolving issues for outdated and outstanding warrants and functioning as a Liaison with Treasury and Facility staff. This position is responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and preparing boilerplate reports. This position requires the ability to run various reports using Business Intelligence. This position assists the manager with Department’s internal controls evaluations (ICE) for employee travel reimbursement and mail room procedures as well as helps in determining the objectives, control activities and actual monitoring that the internal controls are met. Financial Analyst 9-P11 This position functions as a financial analyst within the Accounting Section of the Bureau of Fiscal Management, Budget & Operations Administration of Department of Corrections. This position reviews and release complex payments that require contract review and monitoring. Release R*STARS batches in a timely manner to keep Internal Transaction (IT) file cleared at all time. Primarily responsible for clearing and reconciliation of Undistributed Receipts. The position will assist in review of quarterly Monarch reports, and prepare transactions to correct Encumbrance, Accounts payable and Accounts Receivables. Will ensure propriety of expenditure transactions processed within the Finance Division. Also, will work as a backup approver for expense reimbursement requests in MiTES. The duties also include compliance with year-end cutoff procedures and deadlines including timely submission of Annual CS138 report, Annual escheating of outdated warrants. This position will also work as a liaison for Electronic Transaction Processing (ETP) and assist in SIGMA project implementation. View the job specification here () . Required Education and Experience Education for Financial Analyst 9-12 Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 12 semester (18 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: accounting, finance, or economics. Financial Analyst 10 One year of professional experience providing a systematic review, analysis, interpretation, and/or evaluation of budgets, mortgages, loans, or other financial data, equivalent to a Financial Analyst 9, Accountant 9, or Auditor 9. Financial Analyst P11 Two years of professional experience providing a systematic review, analysis, interpretation, and/or evaluation of budgets, mortgages, loans, or other financial data, equivalent to a Financial Analyst, including one year equivalent to a Financial Analyst 10, Accountant 10, or Auditor 10. Financial Analyst 12 Three years of professional experience providing a systematic review, analysis, interpretation, and/or evaluation of budgets, mortgages, loans, or other financial data, equivalent to a Financial Analyst, including one year equivalent to a Financial Analyst P11, Accountant P11, or Auditor P11. Education and Experience for Financial Analyst (Departmental Trainee) 9 Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and two years of experience as an Accounting Technician E9 and/or 10, Account Examiner E10 and/or 11, Account Examiner Supervisor 12, or Office Supervisor 9-10 (with the bookkeeping subclass code); or, one year of experience as an Account Examiner Supervisor 13, or Office Supervisor 11-12 (with the bookkeeping subclass code). Educational Substitution College credits may be substituted on a proportional basis (one year of college education may substitute for one quarter of the required experience) for up to one half of the required experience. Additional Requirements and Information Work Location: This position is located inLansing, Michiganand will require reporting in person for the first two weeks. After the initial training period, a hybrid work schedule may be approved that will allow work to be performed remotely up to 50% of the time with the other 50% of the work being performed in-person in Lansing.
