AMSC is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the DVAR/VVO product line within the Manufacturing team by driving process improvement, efficiency, and quality across production operations. This role focuses on refining and implementing manufacturing processes, resolving production issues, and ensuring smooth coordination between engineering and operations. The ideal candidate will have a background in Industrial, Electrical, and/or Mechanical Engineering, hands-on experience in an ESD-controlled or electronics manufacturing environment, and a strong commitment to continuous improvement in a fast-paced production setting.

Functions:

  • Serve as the main floor contact for mechanical and electrical process questions and production support.
  • Provide daily engineering support to manufacturing operations by troubleshooting issues and identifying process improvements.
  • Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes and workflows to improve quality, productivity, and safety.
  • Collaborate with design and test engineering teams to ensure seamless product transition from development to production.
  • Review designs and provide input to improve manufacturability and reduce production risk.
  • Create, update, and maintain work instructions, travelers, and process documentation.
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for process or product non-conformances.
  • Support equipment setup, calibration, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Recommend improvements to material handling, layout efficiency, and assembly techniques.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on component manufacturability and process control when necessary.
  • Support Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) initiatives and lean manufacturing projects to reduce cost and cycle time.
  • Analyze production data and process metrics to identify performance trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards, ISO requirements, and ESD protocols.
  • Provide training and technical guidance to production staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties and project support as assigned.

Education - Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering required.
  • Up to 3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role.
  • Experience with electrical panel wiring, circuit board assembly, or ESD-controlled lab environments strongly preferred.
  • Exposure to industrial or electronics manufacturing settings with a focus on process optimization and continuous improvement.

Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs:

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing process control, lean practices, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with electrical panel wiring, electro-mechanical assemblies, or printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for production issues.
  • Experience developing and maintaining work instructions, routings, and process documentation.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and CAD tools; experience with MRP/ERP systems (Oracle preferred) a plus.
  • Knowledge of ESD, safety, and quality standards applicable to electronic manufacturing.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills; ability to collaborate across manufacturing, design, and quality functions.
  • Capable of working independently, managing multiple priorities, and making sound technical decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform work in an industrial production environment.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
