Tombras, a 400+ person, full-service, national advertising agency with a digital mindset, is seeking an Email & Direct Response Copywriter for our Email Marketing team.

The Email and Direct Response Copywriter will be focused on writing short-form copy that converts — subject lines, headers, CTAs, and modular email content that works across lifecycle, triggered, and promotional campaigns. You'll work closely with strategy, design, and analytics to craft copy that's relevant, testable, and built for response.

What you'll be doing:

  • Write email subject lines, preview text, headers, body copy, and CTAs that drive engagement and action
  • Craft A/B and multivariate test copy aligned to testing hypotheses
  • Adapt voice and tone to multiple brands, audiences, and customer lifecycle stages
  • Write within modular email systems with a focus on brevity, clarity, and CTA placement
  • Collaborate with strategists and analysts to understand performance data and improve creative over time
  • Support the development of messaging matrices, content maps, and customer journeys
  • Ensure copy is optimized for deliverability, scannability, and accessibility
  • Partner with design to align copy and layout for visual clarity and narrative flow

What you bring:

  • 3–6+ years of experience in copywriting with a focus on email, CRM, or direct response
  • Strong portfolio showing subject lines, email copy, and performance-focused work
  • Deep understanding of the email channel: constraints, best practices, and writing for opens and clicks
  • Ability to write short, punchy, high-performing copy that aligns with brand tone
  • Experience collaborating with design, strategy, and data teams
  • Comfort with fast-paced, iterative, test-and-learn environments
  • Ability to work within ESP character limits and dynamic content structures
