Job Description: Low Voltage Installation Technician

Position Overview:

We seek a skilled and reliable Low-voltage Installation Technician to join our team. As an Installation Technician, you will install, maintain, and repair various low-voltage systems. Your primary focus will be installing and troubleshooting, local area networks, access control, security systems, home automation and telephone systems for residential and commercial customers. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:

  1. Install ethernet cabling, security, door access control, internet, and telephone systems according to established specifications and industry standards.

  2. Conduct site surveys and assess the feasibility of cable installations in various locations.

  3. Pull, route, and terminate coaxial, fiber optic, and Ethernet cables.

  4. Mount and configure network equipment such as routers, switches, and access points, patch panels or other related hardware.

  5. Perform tests and measurements to ensure proper voltage, signal strength, clarity, and quality.

  6. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues related to the systems, identifying and resolving technical problems in a timely manner.

  7. Repair or replace faulty components, cables, or connectors as needed.

  8. Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to ensure seamless project coordination.

  9. Maintain accurate documentation of installations, repairs, and service records.

  10. Educate customers on using different services, addressing any inquiries or concerns they may have.

  11. Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a secure working environment.

  12. Keep abreast of industry advancements, new technologies, and best cable installation and maintenance practices.

Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training is a plus.

  2. Proven experience in low-voltage system installation, maintenance, or related fields.

  3. Strong knowledge of cable systems, including coaxial, fiber optic, and ethernet cables.

  4. Familiarity with general construction and cable installation tools and equipment.

  5. Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and documentation.

  6. Proficiency in using testing and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

  7. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  8. Exceptional customer service and communication abilities.

  9. Physical stamina and the ability to work in various environments, including climbing ladders and working in confined spaces.

  10. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
