Tailored Day Program Supervisor

SUMMARY:
The Tailored Day Program Supervisor is primarily responsible for supervising the overall operations of the Tailored Day Program as well as ensuring that the individual plans are carried out for each participant by performing the following duties.
The incumbent is advised that this is a small office and therefore may be assigned additional tasks or responsibilities that utilize the same or similar skill sets that are utilized in this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the Day Program Director, core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Assist the Program Director in developing and implementing training programs for all assigned staff.
- Monitor and ensure the proper attendance and completion of all required training programs by all assigned staff.
- Oversee the development of tailored day consumers' Individual Service Plans (ISP).
- Oversee the tracking of consumer daily attendance and communicating with consumer's home and regional center when substantial missed days have been noted.
- Process intake for perspective tailored day consumers.
- Set daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for all tailored day consumers and staff.
- Monitor and evaluate assigned staff's efforts and abilities to assist tailored day consumers in achieving their ISP goals. Train or re-assign staff.
- Implement program assignments as directed by the Day Program Director.
- Delegate job duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner.
- Support the Day Program department with supervision and management as needed.
- If a consumer has an immediate need for action, guidance, or assistance, supervisor will assist at any time for any reason.
- Work with the Program Director to ensure staff compliance with all agency rules, requirements, and procedures.
- Work in conjunction with the Day Program Manager and Director to facilitate weekly staff meetings and ensure staff compliance with policy, rules, and regulations.
- Offer support, guidance, education, and motivation to all staff, to ensure a safe, positive, and constructive work environment.
- Ensure all health-code rules and regulations are being met at all times.
- Represent the day program in any consumer assessment meetings.
- Represent the day program in outside public relations events. Attend meetings for community outreach and recruitment efforts for program enrollment openings.
- Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Other job-related duties include, but are not limited to:
- Administer first aid and CPR when necessary and notify management.
- Organize, lead, and promote interest in recreational activities.
- Greet and welcome new consumers to activities, introduce them to other participants, explain facility rules, and encourage participation.
- Confer in a timely manner with management to discuss and resolve consumer complaints or any other issues that arise.
- Explain principles, techniques, and safety procedures to participants in recreational activities, and demonstrate use of materials and equipment.
- Evaluate recreation areas, facilities, and services for safety and determine if they are producing desired results.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Tailored Day Program Supervisor will be in charge of overseeing all tailored day instructors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or a year of related experience and/or training in a similar role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to consumers and other employees of the organization.
Knowledge of Spanish and sign language is a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Basic mathematics: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Knowledge to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs is a plus.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet, Word processing, e- mail. Knowledge of additional computer software is a plus.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Valid California Driver's license (transporters only)
- Must maintain a clean driving record (transporters only)
- Must have a reliable vehicle to transport consumer(s) if needed (transporters only).
- Must pass pre-employment and maintain a clean criminal background screening / fingerprint clearance while employed
- Must pass health screening and TB testing
- First Aid and CPR certification (training is provided by employer)
