The Burns Internship provides meaningful work experiences and ongoing support and guidance to ensure you have valuable experience and prepare you for a professional career.
This Consulting intern will be working with our Texas and Western U.S. Consulting groups. This is an in-person internship in our Houston, Texas office.
Program Details:
As an intern, you'll begin the summer orientation delivered by experienced team members members, similar to the training received by new employees. You will be working on real-time client projects, as well as a capstone project. Your capstone project will be a significant, strategic project that aligns with our real business needs and initiatives. At the end of your 10-week internship, you will do a final presentation of your capstone project, and what you learned throughout your internship.
There will be two possible start dates for our 2026 internship program:
- May 27th – August 7th
- June 17th – August 28th

- Interns will work 40 hours per week in our Houston, TX office.
- Salary is $25/hour based on the market you are hired in.

- October 20th – 31st, 2025: offers will be extended by December 19th, 2025

What you will learn:
- Understanding our organization, industry, clients, and professional experience by working with our team members on their daily tasks.

Projects our interns may work on:
- You will be tasked with presenting housing, demographic, and economic data in tables, graphs, and charts as part of custom-made consulting reports.
- You will also be asked to maintain several databases of external information.
- As a part of supporting the consulting teams, you will analyze and present conclusions on specific locations relative to for-sale and for-rent housing proposals.
- You will work on special projects, conducting research and assisting the consulting team.
- A single manager will supervise your day-to-day interactions, but you will work with and support a larger team of consultants.
- Your work will support work completed for real estate developers, private equity investors, and other capital sources.
- You will work on various real estate development projects, including single-family for-sale housing, master-planned communities, multi-family housing, build-to-rent housing, and commercial development.
How Do You Qualify?
The Burns Internship Program is designed for high-performing students. We prefer candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Cumulative GPA: 3.3
- Major GPA: 3.3
- Rising Juniors and Seniors (Graduating Spring 2027 – Spring 2028)
- Preferred Fields of study: Economics, Finance, Real Estate, or a related field
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Excel
- Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques, such as Tableau, is a plus
- R is a preferred (not required) skill.
- Some familiarity with publicly available/government data sources is a preferred (not required) skill.
- Writing Skills: Strong writing to convey analysis clearly and concisely
- Interest: Curiosity and desire to work in the housing industry, focusing on data analysis, data visualization, and macroeconomic research
- Collaborative team player

- A willingness to learn new skills
