About the Role

Join a dynamic Medical Surgical Telemetry (MST/PCU) unit in a modern acute care setting. This 30-bed unit (three 10-bed pods) treats a mix of surgical, medical, and telemetry patients. You'll work alongside experienced charge nurses and remote monitor techs, caring for patients with conditions ranging from post-op recovery to cardiac monitoring and respiratory support.

This role is ideal for RNs who thrive in fast-paced environments, are confident in telemetry interpretation, and enjoy mentoring nursing students. You'll float as needed to adult MST patients in the Multi Care Unit, Pediatrics, and West Campus MedSurg Tele.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to MST/PCU patients including post-op, infectious disease, cardiac, and respiratory cases
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry strips (remote monitor tech support available)
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective care
  • Float to designated adult units as needed
  • Precept nursing students when assigned
  • Maintain documentation in Cerner EMR
  • Participate in holiday rotation and low census standby if applicable

Qualifications

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum 2 years of recent MedSurg experience (Telemetry preferred)
  • Required Certifications: BLS and ACLS
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong telemetry interpretation skills
  • Familiarity with care for patients on CPAP/BiPAP
  • Ability to manage 1:5–6 patient ratios
  • Comfortable floating to similar acuity units
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking
  • Willingness to mentor and precept students
