The CEO will provide
strategic and operational leadership
across
clinical, regulatory,
and
commercial
functions, driving the company through key inflection points toward commercialisation and value creation.

Role Summary

  • Lead clinical, regulatory, and commercial strategy execution.
  • Oversee clinical trials, FDA regulatory strategy, and early commercialization.
  • Ensure alignment of all initiatives with long-term value creation and potential exit pathways.
  • Partner closely with the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO), Board, and leadership team to integrate clinical, technical, and operational goals into a unified, value-driven roadmap.
  • The current CEO (also serving as CSO) will transition fully into the CSO role to maintain scientific continuity.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and communicate a clear vision and strategic roadmap for the company.
  • Collaborate with the CSO to translate scientific and clinical progress into compelling narratives for investors, partners, and grant agencies.
  • Align R&D and clinical strategies with financial planning to ensure effective resource allocation.
  • Co-lead scientific and clinical presentations to funders, partners, and regulatory bodies.

Regulatory & Commercial Readiness

  • Lead FDA regulatory strategy development (IDE, 510(k), PMA, De Novo).
  • Define early commercial strategy, including reimbursement, pricing, and market access frameworks.
  • Shape the go-to-market strategy: market segmentation, positioning, KOL engagement, and pricing.
  • Identify and pursue strategic partnerships (commercial, manufacturing, distribution) that enhance market access or technical capabilities.
  • Evaluate co-development, early commercialization, and exit opportunities (e.g., M&A).

Fundraising & Investor Relations

  • Lead fundraising across strategic investors, family offices, grants, institutional capital, and non-dilutive sources.
  • Develop investor materials (pitch decks, data packages, clinical/regulatory updates).
  • Manage due diligence and maintain strong investor relationships.
  • Articulate a clear, credible, and differentiated value proposition grounded in data and unmet need.
  • Maintain transparent communication with investors and the Board.
  • Drive valuation growth through milestone achievement.

Team Leadership & Operational Efficiency

  • Establish the leadership structure and operational cadence to support clinical, regulatory, and capital objectives.
  • Implement systems for financial oversight, performance tracking, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and disciplined capital use.
  • Oversee product development, manufacturing partnerships, and quality systems.
  • Ensure risk management, financial discipline, and scalability.

Qualifications Required

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in the medical device industry (startup or growth-stage preferred).
  • Direct experience with FDA regulatory processes (510(k), PMA, De Novo) for Class II or III devices.
  • Proven success in commercial strategy and marketing for medical devices (ideally orthopaedic, trauma, sports medicine or similar related fields)
  • Demonstrated ability to raise capital and collaborate with investors and boards.

Preferred

  • Prior experience as CEO, President, or GM in a medical device company.
  • Advanced degree in business, science, or engineering (MBA, MD, PhD).
