As they continue to expand their operations and embark on new projects, they are seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President of Construction to lead the construction team in Atlanta.
Job Description:
As the Vice President of Construction, this person will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the construction process, from project inception to completion. Working closely with senior management, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful execution of our construction projects while upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the construction team, including project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors, to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Oversee the planning, scheduling, and coordination of construction activities, including procurement of materials, labor management, and subcontractor selection and negotiation.
- Develop and implement construction strategies and initiatives to optimize efficiency, minimize costs, and improve overall project performance.
- Collaborate with the development team during the pre-construction phase to provide input on design feasibility, value engineering opportunities, and construction budgeting.
- Monitor project progress and performance metrics, identify potential risks and issues, and implement proactive measures to mitigate delays and disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and other legal requirements, as well as adherence to company policies and safety standards.
- Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including sales, marketing, and finance teams, to align construction activities with overall business objectives and customer expectations.
- Lead regular project meetings and provide clear communication and updates to senior management on project status, milestones, and budget variances.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and best practices implementation to enhance construction processes, productivity, and quality control.
- Mentor and develop construction team members, providing guidance, training, and support to promote professional growth and career advancement.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in residential construction management, with at least 5 years in a leadership or executive role.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale residential construction projects from inception to completion.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, building codes, and regulatory requirements in the state of Georgia.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve goals.
- Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
- Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or CCM (Certified Construction Manager) are a plus.
