Position Overview

Client is seeking a highly skilled FPGA / RTL Design Engineer to join our engineering team in San Jose. This role focuses on the end-to-end development of FPGA-based solutions, including RTL design, simulation, debugging, optimization, and customer technical enablement. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Verilog, VHDL, SystemVerilog, TCL, and Python, along with a deep understanding of FPGA design flows and digital system integration.

Key Responsibilities1. RTL Design & FPGA Implementation

  • Develop high-quality RTL code using Verilog, VHDL, and SystemVerilog for FPGA and digital circuit designs.
  • Integrate IP blocks, system software components, and custom logic for end-to-end FPGA solutions.
  • Interpret design specifications and translate them into optimized hardware architectures.

2. Simulation, Debugging & Issue Resolution

  • Perform functional simulations and debug FPGA designs using industry-standard tools.
  • Identify design issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Verify timing, logic correctness, and design functionality under various test scenarios.

3. Validation, Testing & Release Support

  • Develop unit tests, testbenches, example designs, and feature demonstrations.
  • Support validation activities to ensure readiness for feature releases and customer delivery.
  • Participate in design reviews and regression testing efforts.

4. Technical Enablement & Documentation

  • Create and maintain technical documentation including user guides, application notes, and training content.
  • Provide onboarding and technical training to customers and internal stakeholders.

5. Customer Support & Issue Reproduction

  • Address customer technical inquiries and resolve FPGA/RTL-related issues.
  • Reproduce customer-reported issues internally and collaborate with engineering teams for timely resolution.

6. Optimization & Performance Tuning

  • Conduct synthesis, power estimation, and thermal analysis.
  • Optimize logic, resource utilization, and performance while ensuring design efficiency.

7. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with architecture, verification, software, and physical design teams to deliver robust solutions.
  • Participate in cross-team debugging efforts and integration activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in RTL design for FPGA or ASIC systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Verilog, VHDL, and SystemVerilog.
  • Experience with simulation tools (Modelsim, QuestaSim, Vivado, etc.).
  • Proficiency in TCL and Python scripting for automation and design flows.
  • Knowledge of synthesis, timing closure, power analysis, and FPGA optimization techniques.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with FPGA vendors (Xilinx, Intel/Altera, Microchip, Lattice).
  • Familiarity with verification methodologies such as UVM or SVA.
  • Understanding of hardware-software co-integration.
  • Prior experience in customer-facing technical support roles.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 per year
