Key Responsibilities

The core focus of this role is to provide personalized, non-medical support across daily living, home maintenance, and wellness.

Personal Care and Hygiene Assistance

  • Provide bathing, grooming, and dressing assistance with respect and professionalism.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, ensuring client safety at all times.
  • Offer dignified incontinence care as needed.

Household Support

  • Perform light housekeeping, including tidying common areas, washing dishes, and keeping the client's immediate environment clean and safe.
  • Manage laundry duties, including washing, drying, folding, and putting away clothes and linens.

Safeguarding Wellness

  • Provide feeding assistance to clients who require support during meal times.
  • Offer medication reminders to ensure clients take their prescribed medications on schedule (PCAs are not permitted to administer medication).
  • Monitor and report any changes in the client's physical condition, behavior, or cognitive status to the supervising nurse or case manager promptly.

Medical Escorts and Companionship

  • Act as a safe and reliable companion for clients, accompanying them to and from medical appointments.
  • Provide transportation assistance, ensuring comfortable and timely travel.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Certification: Must possess a valid PCA , HHA or CNA certification (as required by state regulations).
  • Experience: Previous experience in a personal care, home health, or related setting is highly preferred.
  • Attributes: Must be compassionate, patient, reliable, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and assisting with client transfers.
  • Other: Must pass a background check and have reliable transportation.

Cognitive and Emotional Support (Memory Care Focus)

  • Experience working with individuals with Dementia and Alzheimer's is essential, applying patience and understanding to manage common behavioral symptoms (e.g., agitation, wandering).
  • Engage clients in meaningful, stimulating activities and conversation tailored to their interests and cognitive level.
  • Maintain a consistent, structured, and calm environment to reduce confusion and anxiety.
