*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Within assigned categories, purchase goods and services for use by the hotel.
  • Manage inventory levels to maximize fulfillment while minimizing inventory costs.
  • Seek to obtain the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible cost.
  • Within assigned categories, conduct sourcing, RFx, negotiate and award contracts/purchase orders that ensure the correct amount of the product or service is received at the appropriate time and at the most favorable cost.
  • Make, return and follow-up on calls to maintain proper communications with clients, departmental staff and management staff.
  • Confer with departments regarding requirements, specifications, quality of merchandise and delivery requirements.
  • Set-up purchase documents and acquire approvals to assure compliance with established purchasing procedures.
  • Confirm orders with suppliers, securing firm delivery dates, checking for shortages and discrepancies, and perform follow-up activities with suppliers as necessary.
  • Solve invoice/receiving/inventory discrepancies.

Desired Qualifications

  • BA in Finance, Business or equivalent experience
  • Three to five years' purchasing experience
  • Previous experience with Stratton Warren is a plus
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication skills, customer service and team oriented, self-starter, and professional maturity
  • Strong organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills and exhibit composure and professionalism while under pressure
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while meeting constant deadlines and maintaining strong attention to detail

EDUCATION
BA in Finance, Business preferred, plus 3 years' experience in purchasing, or equivalent combination of education, training, or experience listed that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities; OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Language Skills
Excellent communication skills both written and oral. Must possess interpersonal skills to deal effectively with business contacts and employees at all levels of the company. Ability to: read, write, edit analyze, interpret and comprehend all aspects of staff development, technical procedures, state regulations, business periodicals, instructions, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Must possess a strong attention to detail. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, staff, customers, and general public.

Results oriented, hands-on professional with the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees. Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and to create and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions through decisive judgment. Ability to interpret and follow through on a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Certification preferred.

Other Qualifications
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, and Outlook. Champion of Customer Service and building positive team spirit. Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, weekend hours and overtime as business needs dictate.
